they are both pretty good at the moment, nvidia might have a slight edge in terms of drivers.

I currently have an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+. I have had it for 3 years and I have had no serious problems with it. Although I am starting to do some research on an update. Not quite sure what one yet so I'm keeping my options open :)

Don't stick to brands. Stick to price vs performance.

Decide how much money you want to spend and then read some reviews/benchmarks which card will give you the most juice at the given price tag. ATI is usually better in the mid-range segment while NVIDIA still holds the edge in the (very expensive) high performance sector.

I have been using NVIDIA cards for years and was happy, then started using ATI and am happy too. Same with processors. =)

+1 Switched from AMD to Intel after a few years with AMD due to the 'i' series of cpus and from ati to nvidia to ati :D

I heard it was something which you wouldn't want to play games on, but that's second hand so look around.

Cheers Minimoose. I am going to the States soon so i will try to find a computer shop over there that will let you test the 3D system and I will also do some more research on the net.

A friend has tried the NVIDIA 3D Vision and said it was very easy to setup and worked great.
If you're going for a 3D system to play games in 3D go with Nvidia.

I myself has a LG55LX950 3D TV with a ATI Radeon HD6870 and it's very complex to get it to work with 3D Games. You'll need 3d party software and it's not working that good for games. There's no problem to watch movies however.

ATI got one advantage over Nvidia as I've understood it. You may have 3 monitors connected at the same time with ATI (1 DVI, 1 Active Display Port, 1HDMI) without Xfire or SLI. Nvidia may only do this with SLI.
