In the uk we have a number of different tv fund raising events, one is called Sports Relief. Anyway something that may have passed our friends over the water by is exactly what Eddie Izzard did for this years event.

He decided to 43 marathons in 43 days - one after another. What makes it even more incredible is that he only started training 4 weeks before starting - he was 47 when starting this. There was a three part t.v. documentory that followed him as he went through pure hell. There is very few things that truly astound me, but this was one of them. He rasied more than £1million.

People train for months for one, but 43! He trained for 4 weeks!

Well, it's not like the marathons themselves aren't training as well ;P

wait wha

that sounds like it shouldn't be possible. I know he ran marathons consecutive days in a row, which is amazing enough (most folks after 1 marathon will crash out for a bit, and will only attempt another one sometimes next year). now, it should take a whole year of hard training for most people to be at the stage of fitness to complete a marathon. so 4 weeks seems unlikely, regardless of his age or anything else. I mean, I'm not doubting he managed it, it's just... wtf o_0

Theres loads on You Tube - the first 10 minutes of the first episode give you all the background and size of what he did - jump to 1.21 for when he goes to see the Olympic Institute.

I still can't quite believe how he managed to do it, he essentially ran around the UK.
