It's called the "Organic Indie Preorder Pack" and includes NS2 Special Edition and Overgrowth.

This video explains it:

Anyone interested in NS2 should get this! Overgrowth seems like a game that could be fun as well.

Yeah, well, I guess pre-ordering a game that is in it's early alpha phase does require some trust towards the developers. I have been a long time fan of NS, and the countless hours it provided me with fun alone would have been worth the 40$, so getting a sequel is just a bonus for me. I do understand that other people, that didn't play NS1 as much as I did, show some more hesitation.

Is there a benchmark available? Just out of interest.

If you can run TF2 you can also run NS2. The system requirements should be roughly the same. There is no benchmark available yet.

Good news to those who have pre-ordered Natural Selection 2. The NS2 "Engine Test" is now available to all of those who have pre-ordered the title. This engine test will allow you to play around on a couple of small maps and fire a rifle at a few animated dummies.

In addition, the test engine will also allow users to test out any of the maps that they have created using the map editor. Finally, mod makers can play around with the game's script code that comes with the test engine, though this is not an official mod tool release by any means.

Simply head on over to the Download page to begin your download. There is a direct download available or a torrent if you're so inclined. You will need your game key in order to unlock the files for the engine test.

Yep, it looks really good.
It's not even an alpha yet and still the performance and quality of the graphics engine is very impressive.

It's also really great that the complete source code of the game is open. There are gonna be so many mods, it will be incredible.
