The Necromancer (4970)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8612825.stm

Well, this doesn't concern most of you but hell, so many famous Polish figures died in that crash, it's mind boggling. Our president was an asshole but I don't think anybody wished him death. And then there were many members of parliament from various parties with him and generals and others.
Boy, oh, boy this is an absolute shock and disaster especially from a political standpoint even though I feel for the families of the deceased.

Yeah, it's also a HUUGE problem for the Polish army since while the commander of the armed forces wasn't on board ALL the commanders of the subdivisions like the navy, the air force etc. WERE. 0_o
We'll be running out of generals, cynically speaking.

And you know, for me it isn't about the President, especially since his role is quite minor in Poland apart from representing the country abroad and I literally hated him, but about the other political figures, many of which I really respected.

Nah, in case of death we will have a by-election and we have our share of assholes to fill the spot too. Ironically the presidential elections were supposed to take place this Fall anyway...

P.S. Whose idea was it exactly to put like ALL the Joint Chiefs of Staff (generals) together on one plane? We don't need another country to attack us! They just have to send us some Tupolevs. -.-

Cause it was our best (!!!) government plane  1986 Tu-154... That type had already crashed at least 66 times since launched in 1972  I guess someone forced pilots to land in that weather, control tower clearly told them NOT to land in Smolensk and go to Minsk or Moscow. Instead they tried 2-4 ( different sources ) times and it ended tragically...

Well, don't ask me why they'd put them on SUCH a plane, but clearly they needed to be there for the memorial service and such. They could have flown in different planes, I guess.

Well, a county's Air Force One was supposed to be the safest thing in the air, right? :P

It's indeed a tragedy.

Im Polish, and the thing is, many of us cry, many not BUT! who the heck puts 6 generals to 1 air-plain with a presidend for God sake...

USA has a Air Force One, we had just a old polish air-plane Tu-154. Just like R.I.P. Kaczyński said before he died: we are willing to buy a new president air-plane (oh irony). We are not a poor country, we are just abit out-dated, but everything will change now. Just like in programming, "people that doesnt do backups, will start to do them"

no we wont. Sub-generals are now generals (its automatic) so our army is safe. The problem is: new election. The president isn't a powerfull person in the country, hes only a visit card, premier (? dobrze napisalem) and the gooverment holds the keys to our country.

And the president had a clone of himself since he had an identical twin brother. :-P
But you know, the twin brother was actually more active and important than Lech - he used to be our prime minister. He is just as big an asshole if not bigger though.

I'll be Poland's new President.

And my first order of business would be.... INVADE GERMANY!!!

You can't do that in a country where the vast majority of people are religious and hold the church to great respect. I would know, around here God is even an issue in the presidential elections propaganda.
