You'll be infected with nasty ass ads on the scoreboard and in de_dust2.

For anyone who has failed to block the update, i'll make a copy of my CS and put it online somewere.

I noticed it was there at first, but to be honest - Doesn't affect the game at all :)

If Valve make more money from this, then good tbh.
They put every penny of profit from HL1 into developing the Source engine.
They don't waste money, and if this means they have more money to invest in giving us a good system
and continuously good games, then so be it.

Do you complain to the building owners when you see a wall sized billboard/advert in the city? Do you even think twice about it (unless it has a semi naked lady on it :P) ?

I´ve heard that Valve, will also put adverts on the models and weapons.

Adverts from McDonalds!!!
With BigMac and stuff.

Hope this will not happen. :?

And the character models will start wearing Nike running shoes.

The damaged car models in some maps will be replaced with car salesmen voiced by real actors.

The CT's will have Gillette shaver endorsments on their Kevlar.

The grenades will have Tesco signs on them, promoting pineapples in their fresh fruit sections.

The windows will be covered in Everest double glazing logos.

The market in Italy will be FILLED with various food adverts, and all the fresh fruit and veg will be replaced by branded tins of food.

Ok this is gay.
I told me CS NOT to update, but it did anyway :s

Gonna see if i can find a way to block the updating proccess. The ads are HIGHLY annoying on my 17" screen :(

too late, you cant play without it anyway, it is a steam update.
+ when you crouch your 2 inches from the ground and the cross hair aims slightly lower

Here are 2 idea's...

1. Remove de_dust2 from the map cycle and replace it with the adless version, renamed to de_dust2_noads

2. Try and see if we can make a custom scoreboard to call on instead of the current.

I wouldnt do that if i were you, if valve find you with anything trying to get rid of their ads, they will not be happy at all and you will be banned

The files packed in the rar file from the link are simply the old client files. So it "restores" your CS back to adless.

dont use those ADVERT FIXES!!!!!
every change to the DLLs cs uses makes VAC see it as a hack, so i wont be suprised if you say in 2 months im VAC banned

tried and tested (on d2)

gl_polyoffset -999

removes the ads.

You dont alter DLL files.

These files are unedited, legal CS files (prior to the update).

Updates to the Half-Life 1 Engine have been released.
The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is
restarted.
The specific changes include:

Half-Life 1 Engine

Fixed loading outdated client dlls

Time to find a new fix :(

Yes, it simply doesnt read the DLLs anymore, they removed that from the engine.

I still dont have the ads :D

Ill simply backup my steam folder and each time its updating ill replace the files back :P

weird, that doesnt work on my system. Steam forces me into update mode when i want to launch CS.
