Comparison videos of crash and overgrown from mw1/mw2
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/stimu ... fare/64058

At least they've added a lot of details to crash, overgrown looks almost unchanged.

Looks like they just changed a few textures taken from other MW2 maps, pretty pathetic.

Looks like Activision achieved what they want - made tons of money and people confirmed, that they will buy cod add-ons for any price they ask.
Quote:
Modern Warfare 2's Stimulus Package has been bought over 2.5m times in just one week. Microsoft added that 1 million people had snapped-up the Stimulus Package in 24 hours alone.

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling revealed on Twitter last night that Modern Warfare 2 players had invested over 1.75 billion hours - over 200,000 years - into the game since release (November 2009).

Well if so many people didn't buy the game I reckon that it wouldn't have a price tag on, but i'm guessing they figured that so many people brought it lets see how much more money we can get from them by releasing any old shit.

But I could be wrong, it is afterall just a crackpot theory from me

no its spot on, a 5 map map pack isn't worth 15 pounds,... especially when two of the maps were from an old game with the only new things being some rehashed textures and added objects - which could have been free if we were allowed dedicated servers and the ability to mod, then we could have all the old cod4 maps (imagine the boat map with mw2 weapons, thermal vision and perks ^^) - so thats 5 pounds a map - plus online you dont get to pick the map so, you will never get bang for your buck really.

But they are smart business suits and know that even if they took a shit in a dead owl and posted it to every mw2 fan, they would still eat it, because the game is like crack and people will pay through the roof for it even if its cut with shit... but to be fair, i waste more money a month on pointless shit anyway, im not gonna loose sleep over 15quid,...

Prepare your wallets to give Activi$ion another 1.000.000.000$, here comes Resurgence Map Pack ! Of course price will be the same, since Activi$ion management still cant afford to buy its own Caribbean island.
Quote:
Carnival – Desolate amusement park with excellent vantage points for snipers. It's "unlike anything we've ever done before," said Bowling. The map takes place during the daytime and includes all original art and model assets. Bowling added that the team really wanted to include this in the first map pack, but the team needed additional time for polish. It's a fairly large map and includes many set pieces, such as roller-coasters, a fun house, and bumper cars.

Trailer Park – Contains tight corridors and condensed areas. Very maze-like with obvious choke points. In context of the game, this map is the living quarters for the people who run the Boneyard level found in Modern Warfare 2's singleplayer campaign. The Boneyard will be viewable in the background.

Fuel – Completely unique from the other maps. The setting is an oil refinery and is split into two sections. One area is wide-open for snipers and the other half is a large warehouse with tight corridors. This map is almost as big as Overgrown from Call of Duty 4.

The two old maps are:

Vacant - Wide-open Russian complex and includes new visuals and details.

Strike - Urban town.

They pocketed a shit load last quarter, but hopefully all that money will go to the ex-IW staff when they hopefully win their legal battle.

i bought the first map pack, and to be honest, you hardly get to play those maps on a normal circulation, and if u play the stimulus only games, it varys the game mode so it gets really annoying when you are trying to learn a map and only get one spawn. to be fair i waste more money on friday nights so im not too worried about the cost, and as i said, hopefully the money will go to ex-IW.

As for paying for DLC, depending on the content they provide, it's not a massive issue. Tf2 has been going for 3 years and i think valve couldn't possible charge people for the updates due to how regularly they come out and because it would become incredibly inconsistent if only certain people had certain things, not to forget the long term plans the developer had for the title, but for other games, they normally have a support term that normally only has a duration of a year. Like borderlands had 3 dlc's which you would pay £6 for and then thats it, they start work on a new title; which is the same for AVP, BF2:BC (?) and Fallout 3 for example. Activision just charge more for 3 new maps because a) they are c*nts and b) they know there are at least a million people who will happily shell out 10quid for it.

Barebones gamemode was recently released; small games (4vs4 and 6vs6) and (!) no killstreaks. which is great for a start - getting raped time after time by predator/harrier/other nasty flying thing is NOT fun - but more important is that it is a huge discouragement to the stupid tactics that have prevailed. no killstreaks = no (or fewer) campers, and small game means that moronic tactics like shotgunning and knifing all the bloody time are no longer the order of the day. for the most part, people will actually play the game like it should be played, and it's a mode that attracts people who want to play that way; so there's generally less idiots about too. all in all, i would say it's the way MW2 should always have been, and it's a good reasons for some people to maybe take another look at it!
