Yeah, i expected band of brothers, i.e. something well made. Pacific has fuck all character development. Yes it was a different conflict, division, and geographical location, but the best thing about band of brothers is the relationships between the soldiers. Pacific it just seems to be the same asshole.

I agree the feeling you have with the caracters is different in BoB2, but i also think thats because of the "far from your bed" thing. You can much better imagen being in the surroundings etc as the soldiers were in BoB1 than in BoB2. Also i did kind of got attached to Mr.Weirdo in BoB2 :ugly:

Yeah, i know what you mean, some of the dialogue is really boring, every conversation is like, "man i love killing japs", "yeah man, i cant wait to kill some japs" *night time battle scene with alot of flashing* then its suddenly daytime and then a couple of marines are dead.

yeah and again, thats pretty common for the pacific war, its accurate in that way, but still not very entertaining, dont get me wrong though, this series has had some cool moments, but not as constant as BoB.

It does seem to be a bit repetitive in that respect. And I agree with balls about having to skip back to remember which marine got killed. They definitely don't focus on the characters as much as they did with BoB. But overall I think it is a good serious as I said before it captures how ghastly that war was, bodies everywhere and how vacant everyone looks when they realise the reality of what killing a jap is like, if they have any humanity left in them that is. I'm just watching the series with an open mind and trying not to compare it too much with BoB. I do plan to watch The Pacific over again for the reasons that I can at least remember who was killed and whether that marine had much focus in the beginning, it does get a little confusing on who is who sometimes.

yeah i agree with anna about the actual shows contents, it is very accurate, but im a big fan of character development and cast. The pacific was good to watch, but it wasn't as awesome as BoB (yes i know m3n that it shouldnt be compared to it) but BoB had such an amazing cast, even all the bit players were at least recognisable from other tv shows and films and were well defined as characters, even with just one line.

I share the same feelings with the majority, BoB was superior in many ways compared to Pacific.
Not a bad series definently worth watching.
Didn't anybody else notice the fact that they "forgot" to mention one "small" fact in the series?
Suddenly Japan just surrendered, no explanations..

Yes, correct. I mean the two nukes that they dropped into Japan.

Bloody hypocrites me thinks. Compared to BoB where there was a whole episode about the holocaust.

Yes, it is an American made series but still..

Aye, it might foreshadow the heroic efforts of those brave American soldiers, if they bring up two of the most horrific events in human history.

They did mention it in ep. 9. They're talking about something along the lines of this:

Person A: "They dropped a bomb on some jap city"
Person B: "So what? We do that all the time"
Person A: "Yes, but this bomb was different. A single bomb destroyed an entire city"

At that time it was a highly classified mission. Only a small amount of people involved in the project knew what they were actually making. An even smaller amount knew about it being dropped in Japan. So imagine a soldier at that time, hears a rumor about a bomb being dropped which was so powerful it destroyed a city. That's all they knew, rumor. Noone knew the exact impact of the bomb yet, most didn't even knew what the bomb exactly was. All they knew was, the japs surrendered.

I missed that then. Still, it's showed under the rug very discretely..
Not exactly their finest hour so it's partly understandable.

With Band of brothers being fantastic, a second miniseries/movie could just "bring it". Found the first to be realistic and hope that it will be too if your really.
Nice grammar ^^
