If its a shot at the goal, it can't be offside can it?
Yes it can, if the player being offside is blocking the keepers vision of the ball.
Which was the case here, I believe.
Nope it wasn't, check the camera angle here: http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/1027901 ... latie.html , the keeper is not blocked by any dutch player.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offside_(a ... _football)

he was involved in the play by attempting to attack the ball from an offside position, hence its offside. (it can also be construed as being near active play/goalkeeper to gain an advantage/distract)

dont get me wrong, i hate uruguay for knocking out ghana by cheating

I just wish the officials in this world cup had been anywhere near at a reasonable level, every game has had at least 1 large error which effects the game ( be it a red card, multiple yellows, a free kick, a penalty given etc etc)

I saw that scene being analysed by Oliver Kahn, and he should know it tbh. :P
You can see on the footage that the keeper actually stops for a second, just before the ball was about to touch the player being offside, before jumping at the ball again.
Thus meaning his vision was obstructed by the player, hence offside.

Edit: Obviously Saint, I'm talking about a different goal than yours, lol. :P

Yep - I always saw bicycle kicks as a last resort measure when there are players around since they are very dangerous.

If he played for the ball with a reasonable chance to get it/ make contact ( i.e. a 50/50 ball) then its a fair attempt.

I didnt see it however as I didnt start watching the match till 30ish

Nice find, and good read.
But yeah, I think it was pretty much like this every world cup...There are always people complaining about the ball.
Fact is, apart from very few occasions, the "joga bonito" football is nowhere to be found this time, and that is quite sad. :|

I found the moaning about the ball quite comical, especially in England. Germany and France both trained with the ball, and England were offered it, but turned it down due to the Nike sponsorship deal. Aw, Football Commercialism at it's best; wish they would tell more English people that so they would rule that out as an excuse.

Plus they should all get a 90% pay cut to and give the money to cancer research.

Quite interesting, I didn't know half the stuff written there ^^

I agree with Greasy now.

Haha. Nice to know that I can get it right, by purposefully being wrong. Or right, as the case may be. :P

OK, guess I'll do it again then. Holland to win World Cup 2010!

Well, there's nothing wrong with supporting your home country - but indeed saying "we" won, or "we" lost is kinda stupid. What the fuck did you do?

Yeah, I really don't understand how people can support a football team with such faith and link it to the country like it actually matters, bit weird 8)
