FUCK YOU! (320)
Well, as some are interested in photography here, I thought I'd post some news which is fuckin' good to me, and may be to you!

I am now the proud owner of a Canon EOS 7D!
Check out the specifications - http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product ... LR/EOS_7D/

Obviously there's more details specification online, so have a gander.

I will hopefully be taking it out and about for a play soon, so expect another thread with some photos! :D

Don't be stupid. The 500D is a great camera from what I've heard. I was using a Canon EOS 400D before this upgrade. I'll still keep it as a back-up camera, too. The XXXD series are great entry-level cameras. Just check out my holiday photos that I posted a short while back. They were all taken on a 400D. OK, lenses play a big part in it. Don't buy cheap, crap brand lenses. You need help on choosing, send me a message.

I wanted to get the Canon EOS 5D MkII but, to be honest, even though I could afford the camera body, I couldn't afford to buy more lenses. My Canon 10-22mm (EF-S mount) is a recent purchase and didn't come cheap, so I didn't want to piss about selling that. Besides, all I will do now is buy L-Series lenses from Canon and hopefully one day, if need be, upgrade to a Full Frame body like the Canon EOS 5D MkII. :)

One year ago he started off with the 400D, and recently the 7D :)

Hey KarlJW, I was hoping you'd help me out. I've been using a 40D and a 5D mk II lately. The 40D has really grown on me but I love the 5D. I'm thinking of finally buying my own camera as sometimes I can't always get my hands on those camera's as they belong to my work. I've just got back from the camera shop and they have a 50D which is a step up from the 40D and the one that you have. So now I'm not sure which one to get. As you are using the 7D I was hoping you could shine some light on how well it does; is it worth taking that extra dip into my pockets for a 5D mk II?. I'm thinking of getting 2 lens' probably an f2.8 50mm for some fine FOV and maybe a bog standard 70mm. What do you reckon?

Oops! Sorry, mate. I missed this post of yours. I haven't been checking here that much recently.

A good choice you made there, the Canon EOS 7D is a superb camera.
If you'd of gone for the Canon EOS 50D, you'd of most likely been disappointed. All I've heard about it is that it's not that great as it's made out to be. Many experience photographers are saying the Canon EOS 40D is still the better camera out of the two.

Regarding your original post about help on what camera to buy, it would of been entirely on how much money you have, what you'd be shooting and so on.
Instead of going into it all here, it'd be best for others (if interested) to look at 5D vs 7D comparisons. They're pretty much identical in what it can do. The Canon EOS 5D MkII is the better camera overall, but for the majority of things the Canon EOS 7D can do it perfectly fine. From what they say, the Canon EOS 7D is in fact better for video over the Canon EOS 5D MkII, and with it being a cropped sensor, any EF lens you attach to it will have its focal length increased. Great for wildlife, sports and anything else you want to get close to but cannot get closer by foot.

It's also great for low-light photographer, especially if you're using a Canon 50mm F/1.8 or better. The Canon EOS 5D MkII does beat the Canon EOS 7D in low-light, purely because it handles noise a fraction or so better.
You will get the exact focal length when using EF lenses on the Canon EOS 5D MkII too, so if you want a 50mm lens on your Canon EOS 7D, you're going to want to get the 35mm instead. Of course, it doesn't matter that much, depending on what you're shooting. The Canon 50mm is a great lens and will do you justice. I am considering buying the Canon 50mm F/1.4 at some point, or the Canon 35mm. We'll see. :)

When it comes to auto-focusing, the Canon EOS 7D is far better. It has the fastest auto-focus system seen yet in Canon cameras. It's also fucking amazing at focusing in low-light, and has an in-built Wireless Transmitter for external flash guns. :)

Ah thanks KarlJW for your reply :5:

I generally take photo's of bands when I'm working at festivals or working on music video shoots. Other than that my photo's are quite 'arty' and I like to take pictures of nature and wildlife.

I have just come back from a festival and I took my 7D with me. I got some amazing shots with both lens'. I'm really happy with my decision and I like the 7D as much as I like the 5DmkII. I've used the 50mm lens in both now and tbh there really isn't much difference in the quality. The 18-135 lens worked a treat too especially for those long shots. I did chat to many photographers there and one of them had the 5DmkII with the 35mm lens, we were complete geeks and were comparing our lens', he had a go on mine as he was quite impressed and I had a go on his and I think I prefer my 18-135mm although the 35mm was pretty impressive 8)

The AF on the 7D is pretty good but I don't tend to use it when I've got the 50mm in as it never knows what to focus on when I'm shooting members of the bands because of their movements. I switch between MF and AF depending on the shot. But I do like the 19 FPs on the 7D, very nice especially using it in Live Shooting where you can focus on a particular area..... OMG I love this camera :-13

The 18-135mm lens would of indeed done a superb job at a festival. Unless, of course, you're in the official photographers pit, then at 135mm, it might be a bit too much. :P
It's always fun to bump into other photographers, especially those who do it as a profession or know a lot more than yourself and are willing to give you tips and share information.

The AF on the 7D is so far the best AF system they've introduced on any Canon camera. It is absolutely mind-blowing in low-light. I always use AF in clubs, purely because it's very "point-and-shoot" with the ravers. And with the DJs, too. If I had a set point where I know they'd be, or how I'd want them to be, then yes, I'd use MF, but I stick to MF with non-club stuff.
I've not used the Live View mode yet. I am so used to not using a camera with Live View mode that I keep forgetting I have it.

Yeah, I didn't really use the 18-135mm in the pit, I stuck the 50mm on, much more impressive, once I've sorted the photo's out I'll stick some up, probably be in my Isle of Wight thread rather than here

I've not used the Live View mode either tbh, just read about it in the manual; I had to read the whole manual asap

All I can see is a big camera . . . :P

Let me know in here when they're uploaded and I'll check them out. I don't know where the Isle of Wight thread is.
I've just uploaded my photos from an event I went to at the weekend. I'll make a thread about it tomorrow or whenever I remember. I'm off to bed now.
