EA and DICE have officially announced Battlefield 3 and with it a special announcement for an upcoming beta! Electronic Arts has revealed that all of those who purchase and own the Medal of Honor Limited Edition will receive an invite to join in on the beta when it goes live. The bad news? The beta doesn't have a release date and can arrive any time between the release of Medal of Honor or up to a full year after its release.

Want to be among the first to get hands-on with Battlefield 3? If you own Medal of Honor Limited Edition you will receive an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta within 12-months following the release of Medal of Honor.

Medal of Honor Limited Edition features other special content out-of-the-box including the MP-7, a weapon utilized by real-world Tier 1 Operators in the field. With its light weight, high rate of fire as well as its ability to penetrate body armor, the MP-7 handles like a pistol yet allows targets to be engaged like a rifle.

More details can be found at the Battlefield 3 beta page at MedalofHonor.com. Also of note is the fact that the full video for Linkin Park's Medal of Honor themed video, "The Catalyst," will be released tomorrow, August 1st.

this had better be good. or the gaming community at large will get a little on the murderous side :p

yeah, despite the various crud that's been put out post-BF2, expectations for this are going to be pretty high. as in, 'half life episode 3'. don't fuck this one up EA. please :<

I wouldn't put to much hope in it, i'm afraid to think how will the Frostbite 2 engine will handle 64 players or more if they don't optimize it soon. And a little something from twitter:
"Frostbite 2 is primarily developed for DX11. XP & DX9 is _not_ supported, 64-bit OS is recommended. Lots of time to upgrade if you havent!"

I really wonder if they'll make it 64 players tbh. They've said with all the other bf versions that came out that it wasn't meant to be a massive multiplayer like bf1942 or bf2. That bf3 would be. I really wonder. I'm afraid they're just gonna fuck us up with a 32 player bullshit game... Ah well, we gotta wait and see anyway. I'm not worried about the engine or the 64 bit. Running 64 bit for ages now anyway. Don't like the idea of having to install win 7 though.

Everyone who thinks win7 or vista aren't that bad and that Saint and I are whiners, fanboys or whatever should realise that we do more with our computer then install a game, deinstall it, install a program, deinstall it and that's it.
Like alt tabbing for instance (as one example that comes up now to show some difference in use of computer), I don't know many ppl that alt tab as many as Saint and I while we're running other programs, like games.
Vista and Win7 are windows' results of them focussing more on user friendliness. That means, dummy user friendliness. Which is great, if you're a noob, or if you don't do much more then standard user stuff.
If you understand most of what vista or win7 tries to hide for the noobs, It's pretty much irritating like fucking hell to work with it.
You can compare it to a compact flash camera instead of a professional DSLR. You're not gonna tell me that the newest compact camera is better then a 5 year old professional DSLR :?
The compact flash is for noobs, the DSLR is for professionals. The DSLR leaves all the editting functions to be editted by you, the compact flash closes it all down because it focusses on ppl who just wanna point and click and be done!
For super users, Win7 and Vista is completely retarded. And yeah, you can turn off a lot of those irritating messages asking you if you really really really really wanna open msn, or if you really really really really wanna close your explorer down, or if you really really really really wanna breath, or look at your computer screen, or whatever, BUT YOU CAN'T TURN OFF ALL THOSE NOOB SECURED OUT FUCKING IDIOT PROOF NAZI MESSAGES!
Next to those messages, the windows versions are put together completely retarded. In xp it takes you no messages and 3 clicks to adjust something, in Win7 or Vista it'll take you 467 safety messages, 386 clicks, and bloody knuckles for punching the wall out of frustration :?
Seriously, if you like using vista or win7, seriously, your no super user (a high end user that does more with his computer than chat/game/browse/etc.). You can work with computers or not, be a software engineer or whatever, if you like working with win7 or vista, your absolutely no super user! Or you should be annoyed as hell how many more clicks, safety messages and debugging it cost you to fix regular simple shit, like for instance , change a freaking IP! :?

-write "ip" in search box and open network connections
-rightclick, properties
-tpc ip properties
-enter ip and subnet mask
-press ok and close the other windows too
-???
-profit!

I hope IP falls under debugging part, not additional clicks.
But im just a simple user, you will have your other reasons. :)

P.S. I hear Annarack, Karl, Moist and me uttering our regrets not having bought a compact flash camera every freaking minute of every day, NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!

that's already the start of it where it goes wrong, if you fail to see that, why are we having a discussion in here at all?

You guys like iphones as well , right? I don't know why I start these discussions eventually. I succeed in keeping my mouth shut for about 30 topics, but every 31st topic, I just have to say something, I better not do that at all anymore. Same thing with trying to explain extreme religious ppl that there's more to life then a mythical book that's been written and rewritten a ton of times and dates back a few thousand years... :(

I only think comparing OS with cameras is a bit...yeah...bad. :P
DSLR also have an automatic mode, for beginners or when you just feel like it.
But I has manual stuff for advanced users.
So Windows7 could also be a DSLR you know.
Either way, I think it is a bad comparision. :P
Now don't hit me, I don't want to get involved in this! :18

win7 can't be the dslr in this comparison m8, the power definately is there, but the interface will always hold you back. Even if you tweak it as far as you can :?
It's like having a dslr with a compact flash interface...

*anyway, I have been talking with ditch now about this, for about 3 hours now, I think I'll be able to hold my mouth shut for the upcoming 500 posts, so win7 lover noobs, bring it on :P

The Necromancer (4970)
Actually Win7 and Vista have FAR MORE functionality than i.e. Windows XP - the problem is, it's either hidden or dug far deeper than in previous OSes. You have to know the right "tricks" to access the advanced configuration programs and such. It's true that Microsoft focused more on THEIR idea of user-friendliness but where you are misguided, Bucky, is that there are less options in Vista/Win7. Other important changes include LOTS of improvements "under the hood", which make Vista/Win7 actually faster and more stable (yes, I said that) these days (after all the updates and service packs).
Ah, and you can disable absolutely all "noob messages" - I haven't seen a single one of these for 3 years, you just have to learn how to do it. Switching to Vista/Win7 is a bigger step than switching between past versions of Windows and some old-schoolers are just too conservative to take the time to make it.
