I feel this is worth posting, for the Mincrafters and for the uninitiated.

Most people seem to be under the impression that Minecraft is simply a free Lego simulator. Not so, my friends - not so at all.

There is a game in the full version. A good game. I might even say a great game.

Oh I know mate. It just amused me that when I was playing SP Mincraft yesterday, so many people PM'd me to ask why on earth I was playing it. They had no idea that there actually was a SP part of the game. They thought it was just the free-form creative mode and nothing else.

You can also visit our extremely buggy SMP server, which is like single player, only multiplayer. ;-)

Yeah I meant to ask: what's the deal with that? Is it co-op or can people fight each other? if its fully co-op then I'd like to give it a go as I think that could be awesome - infinitely better than that paltry L4D shite. If you can attack each other however - well, I don't trust people enough to not fuck around

Nah, it's co-op but monsters are disabled on our server since they are bugged to hell and actually invincible. All Survival Multiplayer is at the moment is a glorified creative mode with additional blocks, items and such.

If you're lucky/unlucky enuf to find one of the secret room thingies with a mob spawner the monsters are NOT disabled, lol. you can just wall them off or pour lava on em tho

FUCKING MOB SPAWNERS! Gah! Genius things but they had me totally baffled at first.

Me being me, you see,I just bought the game and waded in. Had no clue what I was doing but just started a single player game and went for it.

All went well for half an hour. Built a little house, hid from the monsters - it was good. Then I set out exploring. Not 15 blocks from my house I find a random cave. Sweet thinks I and meander in. 20 blocks in I slip off a ledge and manage to bounce all the fucking way to the bottom of the game. Literally - ended up on the bed rock with 3 hearts left. Tried to dig my way out and what is the first thing I find? Yep: a monster spawner. Problem is I had no sodding clue what it was and I spent hours trying to kill it and recover my gear from it ( I died (obv) but not before I had mined around 50 pieces of metal, 20 gold and 15 diamond so I was fucked if I was leaving it behind).

Talk about your gentle introductions to the game!

Damned thing is bloody awesome though. Still playing that firrst map 30+ hours later. Have just set off across the (frozen) sea to make a new castle and try and find some more gear. Woot!

I found 2 of those last time I played lol. After a while, the mob spawner stopped, and all the mobs disappeared. I did get a pig saddle and a record from them though.

Yeah, Notch overdid it with all the shaders, bump maps and bloof effects. Minecraft entered the uncanny valley, where it looks so realistic, that it's disturbing to us. ;-)

well i thought bloof 2.1 was pretty bad to be honest, hopefully it will be improved for later releases.
