Yeah, I've only insta-kicked a few times, and the times I did it was because of the sheer amount of griefers OR someone who was obviously griefing and had no intention to stop (that only happened once I think). And swastikas I insta-kicked maybe twice for, once when the server had a lot of griefers, and another time when someone built one to piss us off -- he did it to annoy us=insta-kick. But I try to always warn. And I've never kicked for chat profanity, just for penises (which is kinda the ultimate grief). And only twice for penises. (one of them built it to piss the "higher up guys" off, same as that swastika kick).

But yeah, I'm not the perfect role model. I am eagerly awaiting a veteran promotion, as then I can use better commands, allowing me to be more careful with moderation (/freeze, /ban, /hide, /mute).

@Doc It's best to freeze them I think, 'cause sometimes they will actually just stop if you ask, next thing you know they're calling you over to seem work of art it's like lol what? Sometimes people just see the kicks as being disconnd, and return to do it again, while freezing forces them to heed the rules. Oh and if your sigs a Val Kilmir quote, win. "Why Johnny Ringo...you like someone's just walked over your grave" :D

@Battlekid I'd seriously avoid instakicks, I mean docs a supop so we can assume any instakicks from him were pretty called for, but people wont have the same faith in your judgement, and it might get you in trouble. @thaw because sadly it's nessesary members can kick, there must always be people online who can eject griefers.

I always say to members or vets who ask me when it's appropriate to instakick, I always say when in doubt warn them first, or get an op to sort it. If you're ever in doubt about how to deal with an offender refer them to an op+ it will keep you out of trouble. Which is a shame 'cause even people we call power abuses were ultimatley trying to help out.
One thing i want to get straight right off the bat, I do NOT kick people instantly because I am a supop, and am not worried of consequence.
Two, yes my sig is Val Kilmer, who the fuck else would it be? :ugly: (i warped to your town the other day and thought "hmm i wanna watch tombstone" so i did. Still as awesome the third time i watched it.

Three, just as an example, Today on freebuild a member built a house obviously in the shape of a penis. I simply said id have to put a box around it. (his penis build was purple and black) so i made a purple outlined, black box around it. This way, he could build, people could see the build if they WANTED, and people who would genuinely be offended by the build, do not have to look at it.

Eh, the thing is that penises are the sort of thing that we don't need on Minecraft. I have nothing against them, having one myself, but the constant obsession with them is a sign of puerility. I don't think it's necessarily always wrong to make one, but there is a time and a place for it, and in the middle of main is not the place. On a full-scale replica of Michelangelo's David, sure, in the middle of main, no.

If we permit the creation of something that the creation of is taboo, we will become taboo. Not that I worry terribly much about fitting in, but our goal is to have a place where everyone can come and have fun, or the closest possible definition of everyone. Therefore, I feel that penises are for private use only, not public display, and do not belong in an open-air, easily accessible environment, as it would make many people uncomfortable.

Ah yeah that wasn't what I was implying, I mean more rather we can assume that when a supop instakicks it was probably called for, while if a member did it, it would bring some atention. Argh need to watch that film again!

I Agree i always warn 1 nicely then sometimes even warn twice just incase they were AFK or smin... people instantly kick for swaztikas when maybe a warning should be placed?

also, sometmes it might be that the guest simply doesnt know how to reply to a warning. We should just say "Press T to talk" in that case. I have witnessed people kicking guests simply for not responding to a warning, which I think is wrong.

Look if you can't figure out how to talk then you have no business to play a social game like Minecraft.

Most of the time, it's ok to instant kick for swastikas. They are illegal in many places, and are a very sensitive subject. However, it's better if members don't instant kick (unless they are pretty well known and careful, and even then warning is always better first).

I'm not opposed to warning, but I've been told both to just kick them and warn then kick. I personally try to warn first, lets see what Hafnium posts rule-wise.

Its not that members shouldn't do it, its the fact no one should instantly kick.
Racism on the other hand is completely different; and is instantly bannable. Pandorum also told me that counts as swastikas, but yeah we'll wait till the new rules to clarify everything.

The below is how I personally think about this stuff. Don't take them as cold hard rules.

Warnings
Should always be given where possible in the form of "Swiper, no swiping". The amounts of warnings I see without a name is appalling. How can you say you warned someone when all you did was shout "DON'T GRIEF ME BRO!!!?!" ?

Instakicks
Acceptable by in case of swastikas. That shit is banned/very very looked down upon in most civilized countrys. If you think that making them is "fun" then you can kindly get the fuck out.
Also if after a wipe there are lots of griefers tearing up the area around spawn then Op+ should be able to instakick to save time.
Finally in case of "malicious intentional grief", which is where someone is obviously griefing just for the hell of it. Warning these people has no use.

Instabans
Only for obvious racism ("All niggers will burn in hell") and membergriefing. If I had my way membergriefers wouldnt even get the right to appeal.

/patrol and /hide
Make them Op+. Members and Veterans have no actual use for these. Go and build already!

"Mature" content
If you feel the need to make a build of someone with an huge oversized dick ramming a vaguely female shaped stick figure from behind... then do it where the sun doesnt shine and put some damn effort in it

Also for Filler's last point above, if you're gonna do that, BOX IT UP or get someone who can hollow cuboid to do it for you. Not everyone wants to see that shit.

Yeah what filler's saying sounds good, though I'm probably gonna warn for swastikas, because 8/10 people Ive leveled with and told "look omglolzorzcheese you can't do these here, they're against the rules" will just say "oh ok" and then skip off and build something.

anywho. Guys, the main point is to use DISCRESSION. if u see some one blatently greifing then use common sense and do what u think is right, if you are at a veteran level then you have easily seen enough of what happens on freebuild and so you should really know what to do, just saying.

Just adding my .05 cents worth

Pretty useless (74)
User avatar
The only time I instakick is when I catch someone blatantly griefing, as in destroying a whole build or pixel art. I usually warn for swatstikas, mature things, swearing, and racism. I haven't insta banned yet, as usually when I catch a member griefing there is a supop+ on, and I mention it to them after I freeze them or something similar.

Although after reading Filler's post I may insta kick for swastikas now. Although, I don't know about insta banning for that kind of racism. I mean, I'll probably just mute them and warn them, if they continue kick them, and THEN ban them if they come back and continue.

Yes, kicking without warning is a huge problem recently with members, a lot of members want to use their newly given powers to the full extent. It makes them feel like they have a good amount of power and therefore they LOVE using that power. Also, a lot of them don't really get the evidence they need before kicking. They could delete one block and the members think its griefing. There should be some exceptions such as pointed at earlier that if the server is full and there is only like 2 admins on then its fine. Well, thats my opinion....take it for what it is :) :4

Patrolling for members and veterans is useless....Hide, now that I gotta disagree on. Helps me a lot when I see someone saying they are getting griefed (quick /tp later) and I warn them. Then the griefer looks around to make sure I'm not watching (even though I am hidden) and griefs again. Sometimes OP+ are busy with other more important matters.
