Hello guys!

Christmas is coming more near, and i decided to let me give a gfx for it.

I thought long for it and now i finally want it. :D

Ofc i need some Opinions of you, as i don't really have any idea what gfx to buy.

Could u tell me some or one possible ones? At the moment i've got a Radeon X1550 Series and those one is not good enough to play some games without laggs, for example ive got those "your gfx is not good enough" when i start HL2 : chapter 2, Tf2 and also Portal.

I count on you! cheers guys :)

IMHO the best choice is 8800GT (http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/29/geforce_8800_gt/)
faster then 8800 GTS / HD 2900 XT, almost as good as 8800 gtx and cheaper :)

ATi have completely lost the plot - The merger between them and AMD has ruined almost every product line they were working on (both companies).

The VERY top of the range AMD CPU is what, 75% as fast as the mid level chips from Intel, and the same price? Nice...

Graphics, well, lets just not mention ATi since the 2*** series...

Intel + nVidia = Best performance currently available. No disputing it.

Just called an 8800ultra... But it's HUGE. There's quite literally less than 15 cases on the planet that it fits into... Check yer space up to yer HDD's before u go for an ultra!

Well, thats important to know, as you might end up with the wrong card then.

Take a look inside your PC, were your current videocard is now.

This is what a AGP slot looks like:

And this is what a PCI-E slot looks like:(the blue slot)

With PCI-E the colour of the slot might vary, but the AGP slots are always brown.

Thats a problem indeed. I don't think you would want to spend money on a AGP upgrade.... Best thing would be to give the mobo/cpu/mem a upgrade aswell, alltho the price will be much higher then anticipated.

hmm, maybe.
launch control panel - system - hardware - device manager - system devices.
and then see if theres something like PCI bus, PCI standard host CPU bridge etc..

Thats the normal PCI bus. Try and find 'PCI Express Root Port' or something named with AGP.
