Maybe you could do something like that little flash game, Crimson Room or something. Have somone locked in a room, (obviously one half the room will be space for cameras and lighting, so not really locked

) with chairs, and objects to mess around with to help them get out. It would be a little bit like problem sleuth
Then you can film an internet chat room live, split the screen when nothings really going on in the room. Have a presenter talking bollocks so things don't get too quiet, or use that sort of uneasing music they play in time based gameshows. It doesn't nessesarily have to be a chatroom, but you can make sure you invite people who wont mess about, and you can have some plants, incase things get slow.
It's a dynamic idea, because it doesn't have to be one game, it can be many, like checking for clues and stuff. Though I'm not sure how easy you could apply this to a live studio.
