I can make just about anything with it, except networking games... GM networking is a nightmare. 3D games are ridiculous to make, and I tried making one, but it fell apart quickly.

Both of these were made like, 4-5 years ago, I haven't made any others, school got harder, life got more interesting.

And this is a lot more recent, about a year ago, and completely unfinished at all, but an awesome concept.

Controls- wasd, space, f, zxc, arrows, shift? Some combination of those, they aren't stated in the game as I never really intended it to be made like that. If I completed it and got Game Maker 8, it would go onto the PSP. Oh. And if I did get GM8, I could iphone apps... though they would have to be games, as they couldn't connect to the web.

EDIT: Hold the left and right buttons on the mouse and press F12 to cheat, in the first two games, I used it to help debug them a bit.

Game Maker is great for learning some VERY basic programming, but don't even bother touching its 3d "features".

I downloaded a 3d game that was very similiar to the first doom except it was only one level of height.
I tried to copy it with my own version, I think I lost a couple years of my life doing that.

Oh dear, I didn't notice which thread we'd hijacked. This is one of the few threads that can't be hijacked. Begone!

Actually, I've seen some 3d games made in Game Maker that are decent. However, it's pretty obvious that there's been a lot of work put into custom engine for them, and they were still slow with poor collision detection (after all, why would walls *stop* you?).

LMAO, I was wondering where this went, sorry I kind of got the thread off topic, but, you know...
I suppose it does make a nice entertainment thread.

Hafnium is completely right. Its good for basic programming, but it is inefficient, and produces horridly low quality games, especially in 3D. 3D in it, is completely ruined first by the fact that there is no support, and no mods to add support, for model files. This means that you have to literally type up a model, draw it, and calculate every collision for it, all using a function that allows you to type in coordinates relative to the origin of the model. To make it worse, you can't JUST rotate these objects. They are all tied to the origin of the entire world, meaning more code to simply rotate a model, and further code if parts of the model rotate themselves...

Top down though, is fun and I can make it fairly well and easily, as you can see in my games...
