Every year you have the 1st of April, April fools day. Every year we pull a couple of jokes and as in every year, lot's of people fall for them.

So what did we do this year? Well, I'm sorry minecrafters, but this year you lot got the full load of it

A few changes were made to the auto reply bot. On joining the FB server it would inform people they had to change their password due to their account being hacked, supplying a link with it to a April fools day picture. It would also advice people to build a statue of a duck in order to receive their promotion. We were in need of ducks to unlock a secret map

A b it of panic also struck in rank-land. Our tech's messed about with the code and swapped around the rank icons tricking people into thinking they have been demoted.

The joke posted on the website and forums this year was of course the announcement of the Minecraft servers closing down. You can all calm down now, this won't happen, at least not any time soon.
The message posted to announce the joke however did include a bit of truth. We do require donations each month to keep the servers running. We are not sponsored or funded by any backing company. The servers are being paid for from private money gathered through donations. We are still not getting enough donations each month from the minecrafters to support the game, so we do ask you to take a few minutes and send us a few bucks every now and then.

A lot of us OPs figured it out as well. We did have fun messing with the members and guests by telling them the news. plus, a little birdie told me awhile back that due to the popularity of both servers, they wouldnt be shut down for awhile at least.And the trolling in the thread was too funny to not go along with! Good job SpA...For a job well done.

The servers themselves are not the issue. The machines have been bought and assembled by Saint and Bucky. Basically SpA owns them. It's the datacenter rackspace and traffic that are the problem. :-P
