Hi.
First off, I wanna thank you for your awesome TF2 servers. They are practically the only servers I play on and I have spent several joyful hours on them.

One of the reasons why I like playing on your servers so much is, that there are many regular players, which greatly enhances teamplay. This is why I would like to propose that you host a gather.
The gameplay experience in a gather is, like in a clanwar, much more intense and rewarding. I think there would be several of the regular players that would like to be part of that and it would be a great way to strenghten the community on your servers even more.


On a different matter, I've a question about the reserved slots. Since your servers are full most of the times, I would like to have a reservation and I would be willing to donate for that. I just think, that 10€ for only one month is a bit much, especially considering that that's the same as you give away for free in your lottery.
I'll probably donate anyways, just to show my appreciation, but it still would be nice to have the reserved slot for longer than a month.


One more thing: I think the points a player gets in your HLStatX for certain actions could be tweaked a bit.
Imho a player should get more points picking-up the flag, than he looses for droppping it. (even though he might have had the flag for only 1 second, he still bought the team more time to recapture the flag)
Also, a domination should be worth more points than a revenge.

Hi,

First off, welcome on the forums :) and thanks for the posted feedback!

On the gather matter, we are currently in the proccess of starting our [SpA] VS community wars. This means an X amount of [SpA] members (prev. 13) will play against 13 random community players (everyone can sign up for them).

On the reserved slots thingy, just drop me a PM, we'll work something out :)

For HLstatsX, to be honest, i kinda setup the system, configged it a bit, and left it as it is. I have no idea were to tweak the points, and what to tweak them too. If anyone is intrested in having a look at it, just throw me a message, and i'll send you the server files.(You do have to know what your doing tho, assigning random point value's would only make it worse).

Ah, another TF2 regular.

I do think that there is a reason for the amount of points one gets from picking up, capturing and dropping the flag. I know where you are getting it, as losing points for dropping the flag for a scout or just touching the flag to reset the timer is quite disappointing.

But look at it this way, let's say dropping the flag was 0 points and picking it up is 10 points. I could just pick up the flag, stop short of capping it in our intel room and just sit there dropping and picking up the flag over and over again. :shock:

If the system is tweaked, a certain amount of trust is needed from the community to not abuse the system:/

demm, how'd you like to take on the part of non community players and get a get together of the finest you can manage to find?
We'll arrange it from the SpA side.

As for the dropping the flag issue, Xurreal is probably right. Somebody could abuse the system if the points are not the same for picking it up and dropping it. On the other hand, I don't think that a situation like this would ever happen on your servers.

to get a team together of non SpA players, get them to communicate with each other or not, maybe get a team captain or a few squads with a team captain, that kind of stuff.
The nice thing is that the voice com in tf2 is excellent, so you wouldn't have to get them to join a channel or something.
You could also let em wing it, that means you could also let faith guide them and let it just be a game where everybody can do what they want, like always.
But orgranizing players would be the greatest task. ( 2 bad for ya that xurreal joined SpA in the nick of time! :D wehehehehe) But there are a lot of very good players out there on our servers who r not in SpA (yet! :lol:)
So, would you be up for it? It'll be ok too if you only manage to get a couple of good players who'll communicate with each other and we'll let the rest of the server get filled with the normal loads of ppl joining our server daily!
Well? Sounds as a plan?

Getting a team together won't be too hard I guess. Also, I think communication won't be a problem, as most of the regulars use voice in-game (at least sometimes).
As for tactics I'm guessing that the SpA-team won't use any sophisticated strategies, so we'll be fine with a short briefing. ;)

So when do you want that match to take place? I'd say Friday nights would be best, but it really doesn't matter to me.

Naw, we'll keep it simple. What do you say, guys? Should we go for the LeFoudre aggression strategy with and integrated Jelly-sniper for quick retreat (only possible, of course, with a heavy-demo combo "on the rocks"), or just for on of the simpler McCannigan-Stray's "Quantum sim"-taccs, perhaps with some improvising within the boundaries of the Creole-spraying school?

I post here to make some suggestions about the rank/point system. Winning points for high-ranked players is a little hard thing. Sometimes you need more than 3kpd to gain points :P Anyway it's nice to need to play really good to win points, I like it and the changes I suggest don't ruin this :wink:

To be more specific I compared your hlstatsx with those of other servers and I found some things that you could change:
- Points Modifier for weapons: It's 1.00 for all weapons. I thinks that's wrong... It's not the same killing someone with a rocket the same as a shovel... So I suggest the modifiers to be adjusted to this. These values are very common to a lot of servers.
- Action Statistics: I don't see the "Kill Assist - Medic" to appear at all. So I assume that it's the same as "Kill Assist". It's not fair for the medics as they mostly get assists and not kills. 4 points I think it's OK compared to 2 of the "normal" assist. Domination should also boosted to 10 points the same as "revenge" (or less points but equal points for both). Last but not least, the -10 points for dropping the flag are "ouch". Anyway take a look here. Some values can be tweaked a little.
- At Server Overview why there are no "Daily Awards"? I thinks it's a nice feature.
