I am looking for one of these with good reliability and QoS. Or I could use my DG834Gv2 as a modem and get a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND which are supposed to be good, but that requires me to do stuff.

Suggestions?

I'd like to help you with this, as it fits in my line of work. However I just work with Cisco and I doubt you're up for buying a 600 euro router

Reminds me of our old IT guy. He'd go off buying ridiculously expensive stuff like Cisco routers for 2000 EUR a pop to "improve network performance" (= wifi signal was weak at some locations). We were about 90 students, and the signal was only weak outside the classrooms.

No one questioned his competence and as such the steering committee would just assume these purchases were in order.

Actual quote: "the school's paying for it anyway"
