This F2P move has definitely revitalized the game: I can't really remember ever seeing our servers so busy. Maybe three years ago but even then I remember we had to work on getting them filled on the weekdays' afternoons. Which is good. It's a fun little game and it would suck to see it go down the drain.
But the influx of new players is so huge, the overall quality of the games has gone down the drain. Whenever I'm playing I feel like I'm stomping on ants, dying more from the scramble then anything else. The way I remember it, it took way more than a year until the community's average skill level rose up enough to have some really good games on. Is there anything we could do help with this now? Anything we could do to help the new players get into the game easier?
We have some Guides on the site (which could definitely use some refreshing). Maybe we could advertise these on the servers? "Like the game? What to improve? Try reading this?"
Or maybe keep a blog with various tips and tricks? (kinda like
Nubonamission used to do a while back for scout)
Our servers have worked for a long time based on a close community and I'm sure part of this is not only the friendly atmosphere but more because of the quality of the games. Right now I feel like we're losing our trademark here.
