vista sp1 ftw.

now everybody is bashing vista and praising xp, but just remember what happened a few years ago: everybody was bashing xp. 'it's slower than 2000', 'it needs more ram', 'it's bigger on the disk', 'it requires activation', 'nobody needs the new graphical user interface', 'old programs don't run anymore'
those were the things everybody said and if you look at them, they're exactly the same things that get said about vista now.

I use Vista, and has seen a major improve, since I upgraded from XP.

My guess is that XP can't properly support Quad-Cores, whereas Vista is much better at distributing the workload on the CPU's!

Kinda hopeless, but improving (136)
If you are unsure why not dual boot.

I had XP on my machine which went SNAFU, and so installed Vista. I then partitioned the hard disk and installed XP back on.
I used Vista for Crysis, but otherwise stuck with XP (old dog, new tricks and all).

Method to do the above I just ripped off the net (google Vista XP dual boot).

I believe it is easier to add XP to Vista for dual booting, but other way is possible too.

If you are feeling adventurous maybe even add Linux!

That said my machine is currently not returning my calls :(

Indeed. Vista is made for newer rigs. Ultimate x64>>>all other Windows. x86 sux, though :(
I use Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 ;) Here's a screen I just took. Notice the number of processes and the resource-usage.

Windows XP > Vista

Give it some time to get another service pack out and it might be on par with XP (this is stricly about driver issues and programs not working due to Vista being too new atm)
Oh, and DRM makes Vista a no-brainer, why would anyone agree to restrict their own use of any media.

Erm... when did you used Vista the last time    Driver probs, etc are gone for like 6-9 months. As for the notorious DRM-probs... NEVER, ever, have I experienced any.
