Has no REAL life! (4896)
I'm rushing out of work today to go catch this at the cinema and God damn am I excited. Batman Begins was an absolutely superb film and was exactly the shot in the arm that the Batman franchise needed. Frankly I never particularly liked any of the Batman films before begins. Batman was only OK. Batman Returns was a bit dumb. Batman Forever, I don't know what the hell that was all about. Two Face was like some zany asshole which is just wrong. Just plain wrong. And Batman and Robin. Well, I don't think there's anything that can be said that hasn't already been said about this monstrosity so I'll leave it at that.

Anyway, according to the many, many reviews doing the rounds right now, The Dark Knight is a masterpiece and I can't wait to see it. I think it's just going to blow me away. I fookin' love the Joker and Heath Ledger looks like he's going to deliver something special. Just a shame what happened to the poor guy. It will make his performance bitter sweet.

The Necromancer (4970)
I liked the two movies directed by Tim Burton best.

I don't like all the "franchise reboots" aiming at realism and "character development" (Americans suck so much at psychology that they only embarrass themselves when they try to portray their characters as "deep") which is a very popular trend in America - in movies as well as in TV series.

I found Casino Royale only OK, not brilliant as some people claimed it to be, and in my eyes the James Bond franchise has been transformed into a generic action movie because of losing some signature elements, as ridiculous as they might have been...

Also, I found Batman Begins only OK, not stunningly good and although from what I've seen and read so far The Dark Knight will be far better it'll still be more of the same...

Of course I'll see it anyway but if you really want a good movie that has several layers of meaning etc. and is suitable for both old and young then go and see Wall-E. Now THAT is what I call a brilliant movie (for many reasons =).

It is man, it's a real shame. This film would have put him into the realm of superstardom.

And I was right, it did make his performance bitter sweet. A couple of bits where you're watching him at work and it's brilliance then you suddenly snap back to reality and remember he's dead. Sucks balls.

I think he already WAS in the realm of superstardom e.g. after Brokeback Mountain and that's what probably made him commit suicide... Fame is a double-edged sword...

He might get an Oscar for his performance though, not that he would know of course, but still.
It's a shame really.

He never commited suicide Lim. It was an accidental overdose.

If you were going to kill yourself, would you do it naked? I wouldn't want my loved ones finding me dead AND have to put up with the fact my junk is right out there too.

OK, I'm not going to get into an argument over whether Heath Ledger killed himself or not. It's entirely inconsequential anyway.

Image The Academy Award-nominated actor was 28.

Ledger was found naked and unresponsive, facedown on the floor at the foot of his bed by a housekeeper trying to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse, said police spokesman Paul Browne.

"Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed," he told CNN.

"This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet."

Browne later told reporters some prescription medications were found in the room, including sleeping pills.

But he stressed police have made no determination of the cause of Ledger's death -- that would be done by the medical examiner.

I went to see this for the second time last night. This time it was at the IMAX cinema and I just about shot my load when it started.

A lot of the action scenes were filmed with an actual IMAX camera and they just absolutely blew me away. I might never be able to go to a regular cinema again.

Pictures like these would be twice as funny if the key-word was spelled correctly... (Hint: "premiere", "premier" means prime minister e.g. in Poland which makes this picture funny in another way ;-)

On a more serious note, I have seen this film a few times now and all the times I've seen it I've always been blown away by its sheer genius and impressiveness. Definately Oscar-worthy on Heath Ledger's part.
