I read that whole shitty comic waiting for a punchline or something. I have to say I did laugh when I read what Sonny wrote though. Kudos Sir. Kudos.

I will wait for final version of this browser and maybe I will delete my Firefox and use Google Chrome. It looks really nice. And it's going to be better than Opera or Firefox. Firefox is nice, it's just a browser, nothing else, but which can be easily extended and I like it. I don't like Opera because there are all and nothing. I don't need IRC, Mail, Speed Dial or BitTorrent in my webbrowser, I only want a good, quick and nicely rendering browser. I prefer having dedicated software for all things than everything in one. XChat is so much better for IRC, uTorrent is enough what I want from torrent downloader, and I prefer checking mail via webmail. If Opera was just a browser, I would use it.
So, now I'm waiting for Chrome. I hope, it will be better than Firefox and Netscape. Google have many good software so it have to be good too :D .

Don't get me started!
People whine about teh evul Microsoft while Google is probably 10 times more dangerous despite their corporate motto (Don't be evil =).
The only thing that distances Google from other companies is that they collect private data quite openly because most people simply don't seem to mind. =)

Because the MS eula doesn't let microsoft DO anything with our data. The google one gives them total control.

Poor show from google, the nazi fuckers.

Whenever we release a product in beta as we just did with Google Chrome, we can always count on our users to come up with ways to improve it. This week's example: several eagle-eyed users and bloggers have expressed concern that Section 11 of Google Chrome's terms of service attempts to give us rights to any user-generated content "submitted, posted or displayed on or through" the browser.

You'll notice if you look at our other products that many of them are governed by Section 11 of our Universal Terms of Service. This section is included because, under copyright law, Google needs what's called a "license" to display or transmit content. So to show a blog, we ask the user to give us a license to the blog's content. (The same goes for any other service where users can create content.) But in all these cases, the license is limited to providing the service. In Gmail, for example, the terms specifically disclaim our ownership right to Gmail content.

So for Google Chrome, only the first sentence of Section 11 should have applied. We're sorry we overlooked this, but we've fixed it now, and you can read the updated Google Chrome terms of service. If you're into the fine print, here's the revised text of Section 11:

11. Content license from you
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.

And that's all. Period. End of section.

It will take a little time to propagate this change through the 40+ languages in which Google Chrome is available, and to remove the language in the download versions. But rest assured that we're working quickly to fix this. The new terms will of course be retroactive, and will cover everyone who has downloaded Google Chrome since it was launched.

I just tried the browser, actually, i am writing this message from the browser.

I must say my first impression is very good (accept for a crash, but its fixed now with a newer test version).

its lighting fast, and i actually like how it shows the webpages (rather then FF3 somehow screwing up the way text gets shown etc).

I think Chrome might actually replace IE7 and FF3 on my PC soon as to be the main used browser. I'm looking forward to its future development.

BS, its fully open source(so others can check the code) and it doesn't record your stuff. They 'only' gather information from their own systems such as search results etc,

Has learned to write! (188)
So, by the means of 'let's try that piece of software', I gave chrome a 'go'.

Well let me put my experience like this:
I closed the program within 1 minute.... which ultimatly is the largest frustration.

I am used to the fact that when I close a tab, in ANY browser, I will be presented with a blank page, or in the case of opera with the "Speed dial".

So in chrome, I close the 'only' tab and the whole program shuts down, having me to restart it again. This I think is one of the biggest interface flaws of the entire program. Cause for some people this will mean: Start -> programs -> chrome -> chrome.exe

Also the fact that you cannot double click the 'tabs bar' to get a new tab but explicitly have to press the 'very' small + button.

These things I named above are basicly the things why I, at this point, will not be using google chrome.

On the the things I like.
The blank page with page suggestions... I really like it. In fact I think it is better then the opera speed dial, simply because of the fact that it checks which sites you view a lot, and in the course of time this will sometimes change, in opera you have to manually replace sites you don't visit anymore, while this google page will stay up to date.

Also the speed. I loaded several tabs with some apps both java and flash and such and I must say, that while in opera or firefox or .... IE ... this sometimes makes a tab load a little longer, in chrome you don't experience this, as they say within the comic.

So to some things up:

+ Intro/blanc page based on your webbing
+ Faster

- Frustrating tab interface

Apart from these, I am missing some applications which I do use within Opera(I use opera :P), which are:
- Feed reader.
- IRC chat.
- Mouse move commanding.
- Session saving, so you can continue same session next time.
- and some others.

I think chrome is a quite nice and clean browser, but I do not think it is very suited for the 'advanced' user which either uses a load of plugins or other features on your conventional browser.

Strange - I always use ctrl+t for that. ^^

This, on my part, are things I absolutely have no use for and the main reason why I dislike Opera. I don't need dozens of useless features, some of which are a hassle to configure and/or turn off, I need a good plugin interface so I can customize my browser and that's why I choose FF. When Chrome has the same plugins I use in FF, I might give it a go. ^^

I'll list the FF plugins I'm currently using:

Adblock Plus - doesn't need explaining ^^ (two filter subscriptions)
Clone Window - a useful albeit forgotten plugin that sets the default behavior of new tabs (there are other needlessly complicated ones) - I like new tabs to be cloned (history, site etc.) just like new windows are cloned in IE
Copy Plain Text - useful for c&p text without formatting
CuteMenus Classic - useless plugin for displaying pwetty icons in menus =)
Deutsches Wörterbuch - FF native, alongside the English, Polish and French dictionaries - from what I gather more people should be using spellcheckers when writing posts :-P
Dictionary Switcher - automatically switches languages as I type MS Word et al. style
DownThemAll! - advanced download manager that can download certain file types off sites among other things - useful for downloading warez/pr0n ;-)
Firebug - HTML/Java Script/CSS debugger - no respectable web developer can live without it since it's probably the best one in the world :-P
FireFTP - a crap little FTP client - I got several others but I use it when I don't feel like launching anything else
Firesomething - my favorite useless plugin: rebrands the browser with words I choose myself. E.g. I'm currently using a Mozilla Junglemoose and my other window shows a Mozilla Cyberleopard. It could be somewhat useful if you want to rebrand the user-agent string for website spoofing and disguise yourself as e.g. Opera or IE
Google Pagerank Status - shows a small indicator in the status bar. SpecialAttack has a PR of 1. :-P
Greasemonkey - a very powerful and sometimes frowned upon plugin that allows you to alter the rendering of certain sites client-side. Needs additional scripts that can be downloaded from a vast library.
IE Tab - loads the IE rendering engine inside a FF tab without the need to launch this sucky browser. ^^
Image Zoom - enhances the image zooming capabilities of FF
Organize Status Bar - a small plugin to enable/disable and rearrange any items on the status bar
Paste Quote - couldn't live without this one - puts
Quote:
tags around the pasted text - useful for any forum
Sage - simple RSS reader I rarely use anyway
Snap Links - now THIS is a plugin I couldn't live without. Allows you to open all links inside a drag-selection (customizable behavior). I should record a video how this one works - it allows me e.g. to open ALL new posts on SpecialAttack.net in separate tabs in a split second by drag-selecting :-P
Text Link - treats text links like normal links - double-click to open. Useful for downloading warez which are sometimes posted as unparsed text (many configuration options)

Other functionality is added by FF itself or I don't need it (even though plugins might exist for virtually anything - even emulating other browser's behavior).

P.S. In case you're wondering - all this stuff only adds 13 MB to the browser's memory footprint (43 MB vanilla, 56 with all the plugins) and Adblock Plus even REDUCES the memory usage by stripping sites of all those pesky ads - especially the ones written in Flash. =)

Now like 85% of the time I use Chrome. It's just soo fast. Gmail shortcut on the desktop ftw. Imported every bookmark, password and so on from FF. I miss only isohunt, piratebay, youtube and wiki search engines I had in FF.

You can set them up in Chrome even in this early version. ^^

Basics -> Default Search -> Manage

Chrome imported my search engine keywords like "en" for en.wikipedia.org search (I type in en "Something" and it displays the corresponding Wikipedia article).

I too catch myself using Chrome when I need to do something quickly without the need to use any of the fancy FF plugins.
