Upcomming weekend we'll be spending our time in the datacenter upgrading MrWhite with 4 new harddrivers (because the current one is bugged and broken) for a RAID0+1 setup. This will ensure that we'll always have a backup disk to fall back on incase one of the HDD's goes mental. Also the HDD's will have 'double' speed cause of the RAID0 part.

This change requires a complete re-install of the OS and all systems and services running on it. This means that the following servers/services will not, or partly be availible during the weekend;

- Private L4D servers (8x)
- Website
- Forums
- sBNC's
- Mumble
- SpA points / Reserved slots / Spray paint permissions etc.
- Admin rights
- Fast ingame downloads
- MOTD on the TF2 / L4D servers
- Psychostats (website + ingame)
- specialattack.net email accounts
- ctf_bball server #1

Quick update;

Maintanance partly failed. MrWhite would not boot if any SATA drive was added. MrWhite is now at my home for inspection. (Prolly a BIOS update would fix it).

Old MrBlonde (Tyan/opeteron180/2GB mem) is now in the datacenter. On this machine VMware is installed. In this VMware we got Debian and win2k3 running.

We will proceed bringing online the most important services. Once MrWhite is fixed we'll move over the VM machines and place back MrWhite in the datacenter.

Now raid has been fixed with a BIOS update, but VMware won't install :x

Also Debian etch is giving issue's. It simply bypasses the set RAID config and shows all 4 disks sepperatly :x

Little update;

Last night i managed to get VMware ESX 3.5 server installed on MrWhite. Without the raid tho, it cannot controle the raid controller as it turns out to be a software, and not hardware controller.

I will now attempt to build a software raid in Linux on the differant disks inside VMware.
