Hmmm... White background? And you want the scout to be white as well? You know, that won't look good, even with the shadow the silhouette casts, I already tried some stuff with it. Unless you want an outline of the scout in black you can produce the following image in MS Paint:

That's the best I can be bothered to come up with - no resizing filter, bilinear and bicubic - you choose... Perhaps I could use some other filter to make the image after the resize sharper but, like I said, I can't be arsed. ;-)

Image Image Image

Update:

OK, I could be arsed to sharpen the images just a bit since it's so simple - I could sharpen them more but don't know what kind of drop-shadow you'd prefer - you would really be best off with doing this yourself in Paint.net. =)

Image Image Image

P.S. I'd go with the pixellated image anyway. =)

Nah, that's gay. :-P

Working with a tiny icon, resize filter (or lack thereof) and outlines for the win. ;-)

OK - I'll re-create the drop-shadow using the image from the class selection menu.

Protip at Murk - use GCFScape and VTFEdit to extract the actual game assets, not use some screenshots of the loadout menu like a n00b. *zing* :-D

I used an unantialiased model which is shown in the loadout menu, not an actual graphic

Don't you think, that it will be better to trace into vector graphics, and then resize?

NO! Inkscape launches too slowly* for me to even consider this option. ;-)

Is that result good enough, or do you want it a bit smoother? I also have the silhouette ready, so I can modify the drop shadow at will - make it darker, lighter, wider - whatever you want, although it'd still be best if you just did it yourself and choose the optimal effect...

*not really

CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator. Inkscape is not the only one vector graphics editor and IMHO does shitty tracing a bit. That from CorelDRAW is IMHO the best and gives most accurate results.

CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator aren't free though - and we all know that Polish people are not software pirates *cough cough*.
And sorry on quoting you instead of Murk. ^^

Anyways - here's a less pixellated version:

Lim woulds you mind giving me the soldier one in the same way, but give the drop shadow a slight angle to the right (not sure how to explain, but I would like more shadow on the right than the left hand side but make it a very small shadow) :D

Or alternatively could someone show me how to get the unantialiased model which is shown in the loadout menu?

The GCF or SDK is probably a good place to start looking.

I'll give this a go later on.

Contrary to what Murk said the loadout menu doesn't use models - only stills. Models are used in the class selection menu.

I'll check out the soldier and if he looks good with a slanted shadow...

Couldn't find the ones used in the weapon loadout menu. This will do just fine.

Also my patience ran out when I got to the zook part. And no, it is not supposed to be circular there, because there's some crap behind it, making it even more awful.

Contrary to you being wrong, click on a class to reveal a magic screen with a magical model

Here are different versions I came up with - if you like some tweaks just tell me - the silhouette is ready:

Image Image Image

I don't know if the shadows aren't a bit too pronounced for your taste.
Murk wrote:

So I'm actually NOT wrong, since there are no models on the loadout selection screen itself. =)

Also, I don't know why you should bring up the loadout selection screen in the first place since it doesn't matter which model you choose - you just extract the scout/soldier model from the GCF and choose any pose in a model viewer. The images in the loadout menu are, however, conveniently the same poses the author of the stats icons used so it's better to work with them anyway...
