Why does it take my computer so long to recognize that I've plugged in my mic ?
It's not the mic itself there's something wrong with either, because I use another
one to record my music, and it's the same story with that one as well.

I'm not sure actually. It's an onboard soundcard and finding drivers for it when I first got the comp, was a pain in the ass.
Is there any way to just autoupdate it? Even if they aren't it doesn't really make much sense, seeing as my headset gets
recognized right away. But I'm no computer wizz, so I might be wrong.

DO you know which sound chip is onboard? Or which motherboard you have ?

Download the Vista executable file. The drivers your after are the Realtek HD drivers.
