the duel payload mode has been here for quite some while, there's a couple of maps circulating around. so this isn't really something new, and it shows again that Valve gets a lot of reputation for very little work on their behalf,
but then again it's good to see that they take their community serious and pick up the good ideas

A paranoic sniper already counters many backstabs.

Awww! It has BEGUN! Check out the steamforums. So much fun. I think I'm gonna troll some people.
Hmm..actually one of them has a good point. If this replaces the kukri then it's a hard trade. On the other hand the SMG is easily thrown away.

The shield will slow you down so if it's a SMG replacement kukiring people will be harder.

If you add a custom crosshair you can aim the sniper rifle without being scoped. :) It does a lot of damage and it's easy to aim in close-mid range. (that if you're not pro and do closerange quickzoom headshots consistently)

Thing about razorback is that it'll be a big disadvantage against a sniper who's not slowed. Right now I'm thinking it'd get used on attack and switched out on defence where you're surrounded by a fort of sentries.

We'll see. :)

A 2fort sniper probably will be, he just needs to go to spawn after a spy breaks his shield. I'm assuming the resupply will give you a new shield and if it won't you can probably switch classes twice while in spawn to get a new one.

Seriously, wtf.

I like their logic.

Many players complain that the sniper is unkillable from long range, so we give him weapon that makes him come closer. And then they give him a FUCKING BACKSTAB PROOF SHIELD. WTF! I think I know the headgear that will come out for the heavy. A helmet that stops a single headshot and returns 50% of the damage to the sniper from the bullet ricochet.

So I guess my spy will get a flame proof suit, and infinite cloak?

This is just garbage, and it better slow the sniper down by quite a lot or else this thing will make the sniper unkillable for any sniper who can point and click. Any good sniper with this thing will just keep on using the old sniper rifle, and be pretty much impervious..

Guess I'll just shoot the fuckers down from now on.\

hmm, the plot thickens..... Perhaps the spy will get a stealth update... Like I said earlier didn't valve say they would update the sniper and spy at the same time?

Actually I just noticed that the shield will slow the sniper down. If the slowdown is enough and they give up the SMG. I'm fine with it. Will just mean the other 8 classes in the game will have an easier time killing that slow ass sniper while I can still revolver him down in 1.8 seconds.

What if a sniper lose his shield to a backstab, would he be able to retrieve it from the cabinet in the spawn?

Either way, for me the shield would be kind of useless. I would never equip it unless I knew there was a skilled spy on the other team, and even then, my own paranoia will be able to save me from the spy more often then the shield would, so why use it ? :)

There actually was a feign death ability in TFC. It was quite awesome to trick some new players, but the problem was - similar to the disguise trick - that the more experienced players would see through it so it became pretty useless.

There's a SourceMod plugin out there that "brings feign death back". It (the plugin) actually works really well, complete with top corner death message and all. :ugly:
