From today onwards should I commit a burglary or manslaughter or any felony at all, I will be judged as an adult!

In a related manner, I it is time to attempt to repossess my old online bank account, which will be, in the case I can get it back, fully emptied to the specialattack account.

In fairly related but mostly important news, I was gifted a brand new Asus Eee Pc. It's the 1000HG version, so it packs some punch compared to the others (a gig of memory, 160GB hard drive (my old computer had that much - still have that drive as my backup on this one), 1.6GHz Intel Atom, Mobile Intel 945 Express (128mb rams) at 1024×600 and max 1024×768). Either way, what games and programs should I put on there? Firefox and Chrome are obviously the first things I installed, then Worms and World of goo. And autocad. What games else?

Obviously I can't play Crysis (unless I would use directplay or whatever that streaming thing is). Also, I'll have 7.2 mobile broadband connection for the next 2 years. Which is, by the way, 7 times what I use now. I'll probably play games via the laptop now. We'll see how it turns out.

Anyways, what games? (note that I probably won't install steam on there - yet).

Hi. I've got the Samsung NC10 which is somewhat the same as yours, just a different brand ;)
These are the non-pre-installed programs I have on my machine, looking at my start menu.
Peggle, iTunes, Firefox, Quicktime, Windows Live, WinRAR, Chrome, Winamp, Microsoft Office, BSR Screen Recorder 4, Picasa 3(!!!), TuneUp Utillities 2009, mIRC, Mumble and Steam with CS 1.6 (The only 3D game this netbook can playable handle)

As stated in my nc10 manual, don't expect your graphics card to be any good at anything. HD/HQ streaming on for example youtube or almost any 3D game will be very very slow. (I couldn't even run audiosurf at a reasonable fps)

I got the NC20 a few days ago, I would recommend putting a load of tv series on there if you have long train journeys! 5 Hours of futurama today

Peggle, maybe, iTunes, no music to listen to, Firefox, obviously, Quicktime, I have VLC, Windows Live, preinstalled, WinRAR, I'll get right on that, Chrome, got that, Winamp, nothing to listen to+vlc, Microsoft office, i'll get on that, Screen recorder, useless for me, Picasa 3, I don't have any use for it, TuneUp, eh usually i tune up all stuff manually cause im pro and hardcore and badass, mirc, meh i don't use mirc plus if i did really need it i would just get chatzilla, Mumble, i don't really like to talk that much, Steam with cs 1.6, i'll probably get the original WON half life on.

And maybe trackmaina if it will work.

As for the videos, I watched (like a few minutes) a 1.4 gig avi of fight club yesterday from an usb stick and it worked fine. As for streaming HD, I don't know, I don't have the 7.2 internet yet (takes 1-3 business days to activate the card) and watching HD on shared 1Mbit sucks donkey dongs.

No train journeys planned, but if I'll go anywhere with a train (train system here sucks donkey dongs. Okay not really but it's impractical for the distances I usually travel. And for the directions. I'll surely grab the futurama stack if i ever go with something that doesn't shake a lot.

And while I was writing; thanks to the 4 guys above me

EDIT: In a related manner, I also got a cool pocket watch. Gotta buy a monocle now

Murk: According to various laws of physics, murphy and general laws of shit always breaking for me for no appearent reason,, my monitor is now fucked. 2 capacitors are busted and the end of operation was expected (it had to heat up before it would work - and that for the last few months). Either way, I can't remember the spa password and most passwords in general, so i asked baal to post this for me. Disregard the search for applications, rather this: what monitor should I get? I had a 20 inch 1400×1050 monitor and now i'd like a 16:9 or 16:10 monitor without losing any height or having to lower resolution. keep in mind that although i have a shitton of cash, i don't inted to spend it all on it. Also, Samsung syncmaster is preferred, and yes i'm saying that with my dead monitor right next to me. cheers.
Murk: P.S.: this keyboard is tiny
;D

for a new monitor, stick with the samsung 22"/24" and you'll be set. I can't remember the exact name of the one I was thinking about getting, but generally, if it's got samsung on it it's a safe bet imo.

But TF2's gonna be updating for almost 3 hours on the eee, so... Meh.

Tell me if you're into oldies, and if you are I can recommend you some. I know I wanted to buy an Eee PC just to play them while I was putting up with the loooong 7h train rides.

Oldies? Maybe. But not adventures or really ancient stuff. I've got HL1 on there and it works like a charm. Played with a friend yesterday, me on my computer box and he on the tiny calcmobile.

Calcmobile. Heh.

Either way, oldies sure. But nothing too old. Also no adventures, I'm not really into those. Maybe also something (apart from tf2) that will push the EEE to the limit (or rather not)

Does the onboard netcard on that thing support wireless IEEE 802.11n?

If even it did he'd need a router/modem router that supports N also, pointless having a N card if you've only got a 54G or 128G+ router

Yes. Or at least some kind of wireless.

Currently it's connected with 54 Mbps max. Maybe it supports more, but I was in a hurry when enabling wifi. It's not like I need any more.

EDIT: I think I put 11 GHz in the settings... or something like that. I should re-check.

EDIT2: It's Linksys WRT54GL router. IEEE 802.11g 54Mbit. Eh well. Wireless works fine.

Most netbooks have G, you can't expect a netbook to play modern games and have top notch stuff :3 I just bought one for long travels, and also its small enough to be put into my college bag without looking like it's in there :D

DEAR MOTHER OF GOD.

IT RAN. IT WORKED. ON 1024×600. IT WORKED AT ABOUT 20 FPS.

Let's ignore the fact it was artifacting, everyone looked like piss and it took 5 minutes to load. But still

Now to remove a few hour's worth of work and modifications and get Lego racers to run. Yeah.
