Right, so some of you know i've got quite a 'noob' PC. It's not 'mine', it's like the family one. We got it years ago and we can't really afford a new one.

Anyway...

The Spec is...

AMD Athlon XP 3000 + (running at 2.17ghz)

512mb Ram

GeForce FX 5200 128mb (PCI - Don't fucking laugh)

As you can see it's not the most powerfull, but it does the job.

I am unable to play games such as DOOM, etc etc etc, you get the idea?

Will a new graphics card boost it noticeably? Will it enable me to play DOOM smoothly?

Please, only constructive critisism!

Well, i've been told by others that a new graphics card, along with another 512mb of ram will do the trick. But, it's money. I've got nothing.

The motherboard has a AGP Slot, but no PCI-E slot, lol. I would rather a PCI-E, but that would mean a new motherboard, which then means new CPU, etc.

How much is a stick of ram?

I have the same card but the ultra version :)

We just bought a new VC for my m8, but AGP entry,

MSI 7700 for 140 euro's is best selected for the AGP version. (so far I knew)

Psy... just go to several stores and ask some advice, dont believe them quick they scam alot.

If you gonna buy a VC, then it must be something what you can use longer then a year...

512 ram sounds fair enough,
3000+ also, you just need a better card.

P.S Litueq (or litex how you speak) is a poor card dont buy it.

I've had quite a few mates who are into their PC's big time and they've looked at the one on scan, and the one they chose and reckon i should get is this one...

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductI ... tID=386398.

But, i am thinking of maybe spending a few more quid and getting this one...

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductI ... tID=392225.

The second one will definatly work won't it? It says it's AGP, but under the product people are asking questions about a converter, or something. Can someone please shine some light on this.

Also, i am going to be geting an extra 1gb of Corsair PC3200 400mhz DDR Ram. :).

Its AGP, their talking about a power connector to supply extra power to the card. This is a 6 pins (used on PCI-E cards) connector, but they pack converters with it so you can use your regular 4 pins power connector on the card.
