Download: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/re ... stall.aspx

Demo of the new streaming features: http://www.iis.net/media/experiencesmoothstreaming

Pretty much it is awesome and hopefully will become standard over flash.

Also Office 2010 :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUawhjxL ... r_embedded

Me too. But I guess it'll take some time. For some reason, ppl instal flash but when they see silverlight they are all "omg what is this shit, i'm not gonna install this". Same for java vs .net :?

And I want youtube player in that

now that's pretty impressive. no waiting for loading and at more or less perfect high definition; it would be awesome if this went mainstream. :D

I seriously hope it'll one day. If someone big, like youtube starts using it it shouldn't be a problem. Just add a link "Try out new player with smooth streaming etc" and people will slowly start trying it out.

Already using it. Some of the TV-channels in Holland are already using it when they also have a livestream up with big events, like WK and EK Soccer and now Tour the France  .

And about office 2010 I'm not entirely happy. Microsoft announced that they will be using the Word-engine to render HTML-mails again in Outlook. It's fail :(

I have OpenOffice on my netbook, but I prefer office 2007 on my desktop, don't know why, probably just more used to it.

I tried to check out silverlight delelopment and the program, etc. And it didn't work because I didn't have .net 3.5. And then I tried to install the 221 megabyte package, didn't work, downloaded 90mb fix package, then downloaded 745mb windows service pack 2 because windows update doesn't work and the .exe didn't work so I had to download the 1.7 gigabyte package which I am yet to start installing.

Bloody .net, countless cleaners didn't work, plus now i have to manually start the audio service every time I boot up and the windows update still isn't fixed because that also didn't get fixed after trying like 5 fixes.

I hate .net now.

By the time I'll fix it I'll forget that I wanted to try out silverlight tools in the first place

lol Murk.

Never seen anyone having problems installing .NET until now.
Well, I guess that's the price you pay for using pirated software :demm:

I've had 2.0 for ages now... It's very nice, although it is a shame that nearly everyone use flash :(

Updated to 3.0 when I saw this thread :)

If you were within hand's reach, I would show you my very formal very official certificate of authencity

then I would punch you in the face

Regardless, I'm reinstalling Vista now so I'll be able to UPDATE. Yeah, doesn't that even sound stupid? I mean I tried to install a bloody service pack that is supposed to have EVERY SINGLE FIX. Oh well, it seems I can't update if some bloody service isn't running (EVEN THOUGH IT IS).

I better get that fucking windows 7 upgrade for free. That should straighten up my v-shaped eyebrows. And lessen disappointment.

Hmm, never heard of that, installed .net or told someone to install it lots of times (since I code stuff in it and wanted someone to try it out) and never a single issue, there must be something terribly broken on your pc

Okay, for now I'm sure I fixed the windows update problem, the sp2 installation didn't crap on me after trying to so something for like 5 minutes and then returning an error.

With windows update fixed (which is otherwise pretty good) (and by that I mean if I don't count this week's problems) (fucking windows update), installing and reinstalling .net will be a cakewalk in the cakepark.

It's sold out in all the big German webshops... at least the ones I could check out... some sites went just down due to high load (like MS own shop :ugly:). It's also sold in our big markets like Media Markt and Saturn. Dunno how much in stock they have.

Overall I'm unsure if I wanna buy that preorder. We're running 3 PCs here and therefore the rumored family license could be cheaper. In addition I'm unsure if I want to have a bigger version than Home Premium. In addition to the addition I'm hoping that you'll able to get 7 through the MSDNAA. :23

Is the silverlight streaming only available when streaming live rather than on demand?
