Woo... that reads like we have to play a match! :ugly:

As to the LP+LK throw system - I find it MUCH better than SF2's, you have full control over what you're doing plus it has been around for ages now (SF Alpha, SFIII etc.) and seriously - guys, hello SF2 was released almost 20 years ago, times have moved on - it's only logical that all punch-kick combinations do something as well as pressing two kick/punch buttons at the same time.
Hell.. I was released 28 years ago and I'm still around! The LP+LK would be easier if I had a 6 button field on my gamepad and not that shoulder button stuff. :|

If you're not doing it already, you should put either lk or lp on the right front shoulder button and the respective other command on the right back shoulder button. It's pretty easy to press them at the same time then.

Unless you still have that SNES-like gamepad - then youre f00ked :P
But then it probably would be best to set hp and hk to the shoulder buttons and lp/lk and mp/mk on the face (? xD) buttons, since pressing hk and hp at the same is not useful at all.

This game so plain retarded online. All you meet online are fucking retarded jump-in HK-sweep Kens and Ryus. And whats worst about that is that they actually win with this retarded tactic because the netcode is so retarded that you have to block 1 sec before an attack comes in and your attacks come out 1 sec later as well. All you can do is watching how they do 5 jump-in hk sweep in a row all the time because you just cant block it in time, let alone counter attacking.

Well, looking on youtube I'm seeing a lot of quality ps online games so I'm guessing that in a couple of months people will move on from doing nothing but sweeps in the pc games as well.

The Necromancer (4970)
The videos you see are usually uploaded by Americans - they have a huuuge SF player base (apparently the PC version sold out in one day in Wal-Mart for example) and longer traditions. More players also means being able to pick non-laggy matches.

And are you sure the games you watched were online and not e.g. tournaments or two buddies sitting in a room? You never know...

I have to yet again roll out the DarksydePhil argument - I didn't really know if he was a good player or not because he loses quite often online, usually complaining about lag, so it's hard to judge. Now I found out that he is the top ranked US SF2 player and also won several major tournaments in SFIV. Now imagine what the netcode is like if players like him have trouble winning against flowchart Kens. ;-)

I have adapted to the lag by now - more or less - and am not losing to jump-in HK -> sweep players (they seem to come in different varieties by the way - I saw Guiles, Cammys and even Hondas do that ;-) BUT I'm not learning anything either. I have to stick to absolute basics since whenever I try to do something fancy it fails because of the netcode. I thought that perhaps my sloppy execution was to blame but when I got back to the training room I could execute combos 9/10 times. -.-

Yeah, you're right about the usa thing, most of the matches I've watched are from their playerbase.
I guess it'll take a bit more testing and, who knows, maybe some patch might improve online performance. Right now I don't really feel like lag is messing up anything. Then again, I'm not trying anything more difficult then 3 move combos. But I've seen plenty of awesome combos in online games including a Gen 17hit that made me shit bricks. xD

All I'm trying to say is that we need to give it some time, a couple of months and then see how it turns out. :)

Some EX Moves go through them (not beat them, at least not at the bottom of the arc - they just provide invincibility frames) but blocking is your best friend - when it comes out in that shitty netcode environment. ;-)

SRKs are simply some of the moves with the highest priority out there but it's variable depending on the height of the given SRK - at the top of the arc they can be beaten or traded by almost any jump-in, at the bottom they're unbeatable.

yeah, at the bottom lies the problem. I keep trying to time pokes but i'm not having much success.
There was this Ryu, so fucking annoying. All he did was haduken-dash-light SRK in case you jumped forward. And he refused to do anything else even if at one point I was only jumping up and down. I guess I could have bothered with fa on the ground, tried reflects or smth else but fuck it. If he's that cheap and that's his fun in the game, fine, take 20Gp or w/e.

I expected the games to be filled with sagats, but they are not. And those that I've met so far have no ideea what they're doing, going all-out offensive lol. Yeh, yeh, i'm in G3-E. :P
I did manage to have an awesome awesome game with a Fei Long dude (that had the Hard Trials logo o.O). No cheesy moves, no swipe abuses or anything. Just trying to play it smart, get some combos in, cross-ups and stuff like that. Loved it.
Oh, and a fabulous akuma. But he kicked my ass so hard I didn't know which way to go. I was sulking midway through the fight as his combination of fireballs and teleports were zoning me however he liked. At least he only got one perfect in. xD

The Necromancer (4970)
Yeah - I met some decent Fei-Longs and a very good one.

I only met two Sagats in my many online matches that were any good but I couldn't truly judge them because Sagat mirror matches end up in a Tiger Shot-shoot-out IF both players know what they're doing. I won against one and lost with like one shot difference against the other. All other Sagats ended up being completely destroyed and I think they tried to counter-pick my choice. ;-)

Most Sagat players seem to have picked him because "he's so overpowered *dur dur*" and imagine him to be like a better Ryu but the truth of the matter is that while he has similar-ish moves he plays NOTHING like Ryu. Attack with Sagat instead of zoning and you'll lose, especially against Dragonpunch mashers. His Uppercut has very different properties too, going slightly forward Sakura-style with immense damage and priority but then shooting straight upwards with low priority so it's not always the best anti-air option, not to mention a horrible, horrible wake-up move since even the LP version has tremendous recovery.

As to pokes - don't try to sweep LP-SRK Ryus. I met one of these - over 1000 BPs and thinking he was awesome. ;-)

Use the cr.MK -> projectile poke especially since it pushes the player away instead of knocking him down and does more damage than any sweep in the game.

Speaking of Sagat mirror-matches - here's Mago (white pants), the highest ranked player in the world, playing in the semi-final of a Japanese tournament vs another Sagat two weeks ago:

@Ryus/Kens: I've recognized that it's funny to beat the "bad" ones with simple jump over hadouken, wait, flash kick or cr.HK. Works great if they are nubs... :ugly:

@Video of Sagats: That so plain retarded...

And I've also come across a cheater: 4 line connection but I'm lagging so badly I can't even jump while he's throwing sonic boom after sonic boom without any problems.

Evident, vorbeşte doar despre Arcade Seth. Cel disponibil jucătorilor, cu 700 hitpoints nu e nicicum overpowered.

Beta teste look for glitches and bugs. In no way can a handful of people determine the balance in a game right. The community is the one that develops all the tactics for match-ups and the likes.

edit.
Woot, G3-C. Won a tournament and after the final the dude sent me a message and said it was "a real pleasure to see Rose ^^". Eat that, kenwhores! :ugly:

Strange that it worked - Seth seems to have this "adaptive" AI, even on easiest difficulty, that characters in SFIII had where doing the same attack will start him blocking it 100% of the time and that usually ends in him doing the Piledriver.

But hey - if you did the cr.MK to Tetsu cancel then it's basically attacking low like the sweep so perhaps this is indeed his weakness and he blocks much less on easiest anyways.

According to a little howto it's enough to just do repeating HK or HP (on easy)... got this to work with Viper in the 2nd try altough it looked much easier in their vid.
