Anyone else noticing that the server still goes half empty when these maps come on? Surely with Valve having a rating system for servers, half the server just quitting is not doing our ratings any good.

On 2fort I actually see people complain that they can not play engi at all, or that there are no engies on the team
On Hydro I just see, OH GOD HYDRO /RAGEQUIT

Perhaps we should just remove hydro?

Yes, 2fort and hydro still empty the servers a lot.
I most people don't know how much fun those maps can be without engis.

I just played 2fort and it was fun and fairly quick, the reason hydro/2fort empty servers is just because the maps fail~
Nothing to do with engi's~ I think that was just you complaining :D

Games on Hydro take a while because a team has to control all 6 points to get a team point. Which is kinda like having a 7 point granary or something. Either way the map always takes full time and because there is no team score nobody gets the feeling that they are doing anything.

And 2fort is just silly for some reason.

I, for one, thinks Hydro is pretty nice, now it's back after so long.... I would much rather see Badlands go!

I dont like hydro either; because you always get the same stages and somehow never the ones that are actually fun. Its always the huge bowl thingy. I do like 2fort myself, its not so bad, it does not take so long and is not on to often.

But where the hell are egypt and junction?????

Unless it was rapetastic like it was the last time i played, i switched to the losing team and we lost 5 caps in a row. I don't like the map, its a spamfest.

Hydro either ends in sudden death every stage, or one team gets raped in 5 minutes - theres nothing between. And Amyl is right, you get 3 stages in most round with other appearing very rarely. And I miss Egypt aswell, since its been tuned here or there its actually a decent map, junction doesnt work with more than 16 players so I dont miss that at all.

Both maps aren't one of my favorites and I think they will never be.

2Fort is just a classic classic classic map with outdated gameplay. I LOVED it in Q3F but compared to other maps of TF2 its just plainly old.
Hydro on the other side has some gameplay flaws but its sadly still the only representant of territory control, a game mode which I think has its moments.

BUT removing engineers of both maps finally made them play- and to a certain degree enjoyable for me. I usually play combat medic there (if no one threatens to ban me) and it is a good twist in game play for 15 or 20 minutes.

I quite lack the lack on engys on both, means on 2Fort you can actually get inside the base and the whole thing doesnt just boil down into one big fat stalemate where the only way of combating it is one huge organised push which is often difficult to attempt or it fails quickly.

hydro is the only territory control game, and is easier with no engys. Would like to see junction with no engys :)

2fort just sucks. It was one of the best valve TFC maps but just doesn't work in TF2. Its a sniper spamfest with the rest of the people goofing around while the random scout tries a cap or bats the snipers a bit. I wouldn't miss it being removed from the mapcycle.
Hydro, well it can be fun but has the above mentioned problems so seeing that go doesn't sound too bad to me either. I'd suggest dropping the maps that cause a huge player drop and putting some others into the mapcycle to see if they do better. ;) Or add a nextmap vote if noone's bought a next map with spapoints.

Same thing for me. The map is a fail anyway so I get to practice a little.

Yep, Hydro was a full server other week then everyone progressively left and left me and one other person playing...this was at a peak time as well. Not good for the servers if you ask me :(

Junction doesn't work on large servers, egypt has been rubbish ever since it was released, always impossible to attack. I don't know anyone who likes hydro.

As I said Egypt was deleted one or two weeks after release, since then it has been reworked. And you have to consider the fact, that with balanced teams most attack/defend maps are almost impossible to attack ;)

Variety of maps is important for me, as i get bored playing the same maps over and over again.
So if the mapcycle only contains maps that are popular atm, that maps will get boring for me very fast.

For example i hated turbine a time ago,and left if it came, now i like playing it.

Same with pipeline, atm i prefer leaving then playing it, while i still like to play 2fort.

And since 2fort is a "no engineer" map, its much more dangerous to just snipe and get stapped by spy or smashed to death by scouts. I think tf2 got much better with no engineers.

So i think some maps will always not be that popular but still will attrackt other players who like those maps. In the end a variety of different maps might be the best .

Also spa has always a lot of admins playing, so that it should be no prob to sort that.
If an admin recognizes that the server will get empty he can just check the next map and set it to a popular one.
Spa servers are so popular that it should fill fast again.

I would like to see Junction full stop.

It was a map I really enjoyed on SpA's short lived custom maps server and yet I've never even played it since it was officially released.

of course it does mini, remember half the team is going to be lost anyway, so it's basically just a 6v6

junction is not a map for large teams, but then again, might worth a try dropping the engys?!?!

i love playing it, especially with small teams :) but with 3 engys on the final point it becomes impossible almost.

im sure they have updated Egypt but its still a boring looking map, who thought sand was an interesting texture...

Well maybe sand theme doesnt fit very well into tf2 world for you, but its nice to have some variety in scenery after 26821 rounds of dustbowl ;) And I dont think new revision of the map was tested on spa servers, and you probably will get the same ratio of stages 1/2/3 as dustbowl.
