Let's count how many blasphemers are among us.

Also post if you didn't get punished while you would have to be and vice versa.

I'm gonna go ahead and ask the obvious question - we're talking 'bout idling here?

So I walk into a church and ask the priest "So what's about this God fella, is he real?"

Okay bad example but it's relevant in the way of how the answer given would be obvious.

Idle and proud of it - but never idled.
I only wanted about 5 hats (pyro glove/beanie, Afro+glengarry for the demo and texas chrome dome) and the odds of getting hats sucked in general, idling or not, so I was never that bothered.

Idled a lot. Didn't get jack shit.

Well, obviously I did get items, but they were pretty much all removed the instant I got them because of lower level.

no I didn't idle. but to take the moral high ground would be silly; I didn't idle because I looked down on the people who did, but because I couldn't be arsed to download and run the program.

Idling to me is just like bug exploiting... so i didnt do it in case someone would see me doin it and then tell big mean valve and he would take away all my goodies... I mean seriously... who didnt expect them to get pissed that people were just spending all the time they should be "playing" doing something like work or sleep and still getting goodies. Shame on thou!

Tell me wheres the exploit, you are doing the same as in idling on an achievement server, you are just using less cpu. Its like running tf2 in a window.

Idling on SpA servers to attract more players is exactly the same form of cheating. Even more so, since people join in good faith, assuming that there's something going on gameplay-wise, only to find a bunch of SpA-idlers. You actually cheat other people, instead of just a shitty system. ;-)

Argument pwned!

Erm - like Mumble? 3rd party software* to get around the fact that constant open chat from all players in game makes it crawl? Also useful to circumvent the no talking to dead people part of the game. Christ lets hope Valve never catch onto that and in-game-silence anyone using a separate chat program (giving them all permanent colombian neck-tie "hats" as a mark of shame).

*In before "taking 3rd party..." too literally**.

**In before "Douche".

It doesn't hook into the game though, the overlay is just an overlay. Although it does give people an advantage competitively :O That means it's a form of cheating by their EULA.

'tis that last part I'm commenting on Moosey. Mumble is more of an unfair advantage* than the idling program.

*So aruably is playing with textures/skins, binding keys to do anything involving timing, tweaking the interpolation timing, having a better connection, having a faster computer, being born with the normal prequisite number of fingers and toes... You get the idea.

Well no, because the scripts are part of the game and aren't a 3rd party program, they are commands in game. Textures and skins are as well, although in CSS you used to be able to create transparent skins making a undetectable wallhack. It has to be a third party program, and I'm pretty sure it has to be interacting with the game somehow. I believe that most aimbots mimic hardware inputs to the game, hence they 'hook' into it. I was never really sure how ESP (Extra-sensory perception) works, does it modify texture files? I don't have a clue.

Since mumble has no interaction with the game then it isn't covered by the EULA i guess :3

Of course not. It's not like I am going to get punished for having an Antivirus up and running while playing.

I've done both. I had a separate account idling to try and get hats just incase something like this happened. If it didn't, I would trade the hats over to my main account :) . I'm kind of a big deal...

Congratulations, you don't use the idle program yet you still judge people who do, so whats stopping you from judging people who idle to trick people into joining servers, something which actually effects people rather than a system.
