When he was told it was a mistake he didn't give a shit and didn't even try to help the guy down. Who cares if he thought it was a pickpocketer, in the end he's just an asshole who took karate lessons and wanted to show off.

No, he is sitting next to the guy on the floor all the time, watch again.
I think he tought the guy was a pickpocketer like you said, so he wanted to stop him.
However, he could have done that in a less brutal way.
