So long and thanks for all the fish! (1771)

I bought the game Saturday, and completed it after some 11 hours of gaming, with only a few breaks for food and such :P

So what is it like?
It's unlike anything I have ever played before. The graphics are absolutely stunning, especially when you get to one of the many vista points in the game. I especially liked the view from the rooftop of the Nepalese hotel and from the Tibetan mountain-village. On top of that, even the smallest item is very nicely detailed, and although you have huge levels and so detailed graphics, there is only one loading spot in the game; when you start it. The rest of the hard loading is done during the cinematics. This would normally annoy the hell out of me, because this means you cannot skip the cinematics, but in this game you don't WANT to skip them :)

It's very cool gameplay wise, especially since almost all of the surroundings can be used to your advantage. Many points in the game requires you to search the surroundings for ways to get past obstacles. This can be climbing buildings next to the one you actually want to get into, jump between buildings and much more. The game is very puzzle-driven, but the hardest puzzles of the game is often just to find your way past an obstacle. The goal of the game is to find Shambhala (also known as Shangri-La), to prevent a bad guy from becoming immortal by drinking of the resin-water underneath the city. Since you will be discovering and solving mysteries of an ancient civilisation, the puzzles to get into the city are way too easy. Without revealing too much, I can say that there are only two big puzzles, and both of them are very obvious when you check your travellers journal. For future titles, I would like for there to be more big puzzles, and I would like them to be harder. You should have lots of puzzles that require you to find clues in your journal, without the journal giving you the answers straight away.

The only thing I didn't like about the game was the yeti's. I hate it when there are monsters in games that are invincible :(

New pes is such a crap, and Im saying this as a die hard pes fanboy right from ISS PRO 98. And penalty system is worst idea ever, it would be more fun if it would be just press button and we will random the direction.

I won't comment this more than a short statement, since this does not end well most of the time. :P
My opinion: I've played both demos, FIFA 10 and PES 2010. And I loved the PES one. So I'm buying it, simple.

I would stick with pes, but after the demo I couldnt stand constant players clipping each other, 1s or more player reaction on shot button and idiot goalkeepers. But we cant expect more from engine stuck in ps2 era :/ Took me some time to start enjoying Fifa 10, which requires playing football, not programmed schemes like pes. And when I read that Konami are very excited about Project Natal claiming that players want kicking the TV in order to shoot and not the new engine it makes me a sad panda :(

Think I may have to get this game early. Made a promise to myself that I'd wait for 2/3 months before buying new PS3 games as they are so expensive new.

But quite fancy a bit of co-op mode - so gonna place my order. Amazon doing it for £38 - with all the postal strikes I might get it buy Christmas

Just played another hour and its still awesome, amazing and everyone thing it should be! Lets hope it stays that way and they don't blow it at the end with lame (semi) zombie spawning of doom.

No zombies... Only millenia-old dudes dressed as yeti's!

No, they do not behave like zombies in the first one. More like normal ennemies just much stronger (and not invincible like Spike says :P )
I've just finished the game, and oh boy, that was a hell of a game! :D
I enjoyed evey single thing in the game, it was just perfect.
Now I'm jumping into the multiplayer, which should be insane too, because I loved the multiplayer beta! <3

Seriously, everyone owning a PS3 should buy this game, and people who don't have one, should go buy it! It's simply that good.

The first four are invincible (The one you meet in the cave and the three you meet at the entrance to Shambhala!

One could argue about that, because the first Yetis they just escape after a while or get killed in a cutscene if I remember correctly.
Anyways, I've been playing it again on a higher difficulty and I just got past one of the most amazing scenes I've played in a videogame till now. <3

The tight action begins at 5:15 and the epic stuff at 7:20

Note: Video is from a walkthrough, just so people still playing are aware. But this scene has been shown before in trailers and gameplay videos, so it contains no spoilers.

it does contain spoilers if you haven't watched any gameplay trailers :p

I only watched a couple and those were from the start of the game, so better not watch it I reckon. Should have some time to continue the epicness on sunday
