What does feature request mean?

pretty much what it says on the tin, say you want the game to have a special gun that shoots liquid pain or something, thats a feature request.

Honestly I don't think a AvP game has lived up to its potential since the atri Jaguar version, so the bar is set pretty low for my expectations this time round... Who else should I rant at phone numbers and email addresses please otherwise you get all the flak.

Loved AVP2... No game since that has let me crawl upside down in the ceilings, lurking for unsuspecting prey... Well, Natural selection provided it to fair extent, but the camera didn't flip to reinforce the feeling of being upside down, for good and bad I suppose :P
Still, from what I've seen from the trailers of the new AVP, I'm gonna enjoy it a great deal :D

Ok now my graphics card has packed in, my 8800 has decided to make all the textures explode, as well as crash the graphics whenever it goes to screensaver or i move the mouse. Got a 295 on the way, but not till mid week. better not screw up when it gets to mw2 or l4d2.

well overclockers "say" it will arrive tomorrow, but they are a shower of ... (use your most appropriate cursed word)

they untextured/large 3d error message thing in l4d was down to me downloading 70% of the demo a few days earlier, them changing stuff, and it bugging out on completing the load.

thou quite possibly this may have been the final punch before the KO. To be fair ive had that 8800 for two years and pretty much its been running everyday with games and max, pretty much at 60-70degrees everyday. so its lasted a while... :\ the new one is an expensive bastard! worst part is ive got today off, and i cant do fuck all, not even work at home!! BARD!!!

Overclockers rock, and they are the single best thing in stoke-on-trent I buy everything from them I can. Part of that is down to if I dont like the delivery times I can ask someone in my family to nip round and pick it up.

Ah well bad day off, think of the performance when the new card arrives.

hmm, OC have never wronged me in the past (unlike those evil bastards at play.com) but yeah hopefully a boost in performace.

im not sure what to do about extra cooling, ive got to artic fans in the front of my Antec case (which by design is very cooling) and also an artic fan at the back of the PC and one above the heatsink... i dont want to get water cooling, as i cant really be arsed or afford it right now... dont trust it either... any suggestions?

watercooling ain't worth it anyway, it's gonna cost you a lot to over do the air coolers you can get for way way cheaper. Suggestions? Post us some pics of the inside of your computer and ll the fans you have in it.
More fans, bigger fans, better fans, better cooling blocks, those are usually a good option.
I've added an extra cooler to my northbridge, as most asus boards run too high on NB temps when overclocking, changed a case fan on top of my case so that there was more air deplacement from out of my case. Next to that, I have a case fan in front of my pc, added one underneat my pc, got 2 at the back, one at the top and one at the side. Next to that, I got a different cooler on my cpu with a self chosen fan on it. Further more, I've pimped my graph card as well for the fan to run at higher rpm. I do have my computer overclocked and it's meant for that all. If you don't OC, you don't need that much. The new graphics cards are a lot better in temp management lately, you already see a big difference between my 3870x2 and a 4870.
The thing you could start with doing is getting a better airflow in your pc, replace some of the fans , ad some fans, some you've researched on the net with a high air deplacement. Other then that, a bit more expensive and a bit more work, you could buy a custom cooling block for your vid card and build some custom fans on it, mostly, that's a bitch of a task. Maybe better to do, get the coolblock that's on it off, put some arctic silver cool paste on it and place the coolblock back.
Sometimes, the idiots at the factories choose not to add cool paste at all Or, just crappy cool paste.

Well i'm using an antec case (either a P180 -EU or P182 - not quite sure - but the difference is minimal) which already has great airflow management as all the cables etc go behind the motherboard. I've got one front/middle mounted Noctua NF-S12B FLX Ultra Quiet 120mm Flexible Cooling Fan which blows straight onto the video card area. Also i have another fan of the same type mounted at the top rear. Above the CPU is generic fan that came with the antec.

I cant be bothered with water cooling, so i was thinking (if i have the space) mounting of of these above or below the video card.

What do you think? My current 8800 ran at about 60-70C with this current setup and with no additions.

Ill take pictures and stuff when i can be bothered (spent the whole day cleaning and with no gaming... so may just get bolloxed and watch some films)

Well, those coolers you just showed me are mostly already mounted on every new graphics card.
You could do the same with running the fan faster, like I did, but with the new ATI cards, you don't need to anymore.
The front fan will blow air alongside the card, not directly into the fan. You could make a hole in the case on the bottom, underneath your graph card, glue a filter onto it, that way the fan can directly get fresh air from underneath outside of the case and blow it outside to the back of your case.
But why not first see how things will work on what temps? Next to that, the stuff in your computer ain't supposed to work for that long a period. The 8800 has well had his time, anyone still with a 8800 or an nvidia should be ashamed of thereselves and keep these facts quietly to themselves

u say this now! after announcing that ive ordered a 295!! hehe

i think ill do some temp tests when the new cards installed, if after running tf2 or whatever for an hour its hot enough to cook my dinner of it, then ill consider investing in some form of a solution. cheers bucky. also where and how do u increase the card fan speed?

With programs like rivatuner. The new ati single core cards have that software in their control centers, for the dual gpus, this doesn't work, but rivatuner does a marvelous job on that.
Try to look for 295 max temps on google, you can see there what temps are considdered normal and under what temps it should work fine.
