For some of you EVE Online fans out where, take a look at the next phase of CCP's gaming masterpiece.
A FPS console game directly hooked into the work of EVE. Fleet does the flying, Marines does the dying.

Hard to believe that CCP could have come up with an idea more stupid than Eve but bless 'em, they managed it.

If the final game bares even the tiniest resemblance to that puffed up piece of pre-rendered gumph I will eat my whole PC.

EVE's good, and not prerendered, it just looks good :)
Would consider this if it was released to the PC, but alas, it is not :(

What? No, that video is pre-rendered... O_o

And Eve being good looking? Matter of opinion. The new engine is an aliased shambles and it crawls at a pathetic FPS even though there is bugger all on screen.

On a serious note though: No, I'm actually not negative at all, I just tend to have opinions that differ from the masses and I am not a fan boy of anything (well, okay; bar Tribes lol).

I played Eve for 18 months and hated just about every single waking moment of it. The old engine was utterly shambolic and the new one was just plain broken.

What people, especially forum dwellers, never quite understand is that just because my opinion differs from you, it does not make me a nay-sayer, merely a critic and without critics, nothing ever improves...

if u hated every moment of it then why the hell did you play it for 18 months?

i started playing far cry 2 and had to put it down cause it was so shitting crappy, even the 50cent game held my attention longer! (i was bored at work...thats why i played it... and its hilarious)

howard you make some fair points about what's wrong with the games industry, and on the whole i agree with you. but from a business point of view, its important for companies to stay in business which often leads to a lack of innovation. All the avp stuff i do is captured in game or via the engine. this clip is probably captured or made in engine, heavily scripted but most likely heavily treated in post afterwards.

Whereas I liked Farcry 2 and have played it through many times. Go figure.

Back to the clip above though: Sorry but no. That is ALL pre-rendered and very obviously so. I do not know how anyone could mistake it as anything else?

EDIT: The reason I played Eve for so long without enjoying it is one of the reasons I hated it. Eve continuously torments and tantalises with that it will get better. That agonisingly slow skill system constantly teases that any time soon, your game will suddenly get better. I kept playing in the blind hope that a level could be reached that would make the mechanics of the game fun. It never happened.

its not ALL pre-rendered, the spaceship shots are more than likey bespoke pre-rendered scenes made for the trailer, the FPS stuff is heavily treated but most likely captured in a test build, you can see the movement is not perfect, the AI animations are not flawless, and the texture on the helicopter floor isn't particularly high res.

Some of the AVP trailers were said to be pre-rendered, which is BS as i had to bloody capture it all with my own hands! The powerful wonders of editing and post production :P

People like you (I know that sounds offensive but I'll just describe you as such without any insult intended) tend to have those opinions for the sole reason of differing from the masses, feeling a need to set themselves apart and thus risk the loss of objectivity. I know that when it comes to entertainment media it's all a matter of taste, but sometimes it's just unnecessary to look for flaws that may or may not be there.

Just my two cents.

As for the video above I don't know since I didn't watch it, since I have -42 in interest for consoles and their games alike atm.
