I must say that the reactions Ive been getting are not justified simply by the way I play tf2, even in chat I try to be friendly and approachable so the issue lies not here. I dont want to dwell on it; I am happy to have raised some awareness.
Yes they are and your failure to comprehend what it is you do that annoys everyone so much is your greatest flaw.
One of the most hated things on TF2 (especially on SpA servers for a very particular reason; vis-Ã -vis engineers) is point grinders. These are people who take up a slot and then happily wander off to pursue their own private agenda of elongating their ePeen by getting to the top of the scoreboard. They do nothing to help the team (killing the other team is not actually directly beneficial if you have any comprehension of tactics) and simply busy themselves as spy or sniper (always those classes as well), racking up points and failing to help cap the point/flag, push the cart or attack/defend.
This is what you do wrong when you play spy. Whilst backstabbing and sapping are obviously your MO in that class, constantly going after easy targets that are not currently having an effect on your teams chances of winning is just a weak and talentless strategy.
...
That said, and I say this as one of the most vocal of your detractors, I have had a solid line of excellent games with you and you have proven yourself to be a thoroughly capable player. You performed eminently well as both medic and demo (you and I did some serious damage as medic/demo combo!) and have now shown yourself to be a skilled player. To this end I actually now look forward to playing on a map with you as, when the mood takes you, you are a skilled, cooperative and team-focused player.
Good to see you around
