Looking through this with less tired and pissed off eyes this morning, I think your post requires a response, McMoist. Sorry and all:
Your reaction to Minimoose's entirely innocuous statement was frankly baffling. You accused him of mocking you and made out like he was some kind of simpleton who was somehow detrimental to the progress of the video game industry. The boy may end words with an infuriating Z but he is far from being a simpleton. He simply leads a busy life and doesn't have time to commit himself 100% to some epic sprawling adventure. What's the problem if he wants to do a couple of laps on GRID between everything else in his life? Is it that this level of casual gamer is catered to that pisses you off so much? That's all fine and well, but there's hating the trends of the industry, and then there's jumping down somebody's throat just because their opinion is contrary to your own.
100% correct. Everything you say is right on the money and I will not refute it. I took the argument too far (though I am certain that there was originally more to the comment I directed at Minimoose: posting very tired is bad m'kay?) and I categorically owe Minimoose an apology.
<snip> you've really made a lot of assumptions about the people on this forum in a very short space of time haven't you?
Have I? Don't think so. Well beyond that I quite like you bunch of mad bastards and have enjoyed talking to you.

Pretty much the only assumption I've made
You come in here, shouting the odds like the Master Intellect has arrived and it was time to take heed of his glorious Opinion. What you failed to have grasped is that this is a casual Community of people with mixed interests. We were all brought here by a common factor, that's for sure, but we're not all 'experienced' gamers with a list as long as our arm of games that should be noted for their historical significance when it comes to innovation. Some of us just play games cause it passes the time and it's enjoyable. I'm sorry if that attitude is so detestable for you, but it's just the way it is.
This I really do not understand, though I accept that may be my failing not yours. If you want to hear people shouting the odds about the opinion of others, then log into mumble. I have posted my opinion and explained it when asked but I have never shouted the odds or told any one single person that they are wrong. The only person who has been rude in this thread is Dekar who took it upon himself to derail things by just flat-out insulting me (something that was then carried on in Steam chat afterwards - oh well).
Obviously I have not been utterly attentive regarding when I am being mocked or when people are just yanking my chain but I could also argue that the exact reverse has also been true. Thus are the joys of discussing things on the internet (where it is pretty much impossible to tell the intent or emotion of a poster) instead of being sat around a table in a bar (when you get to fully appreciate the opinion of the person sat in front of you).
And that's the point I'm trying to make. I don't give a flying fuck about Alien Vs. Predator. I haven't played it, I probably never will, but your attitude just stinks man. This forum is easy going, and you might scoff at that fact because we are all inferior because we choose not to get as involved as you do, but it's cause we don't want to. Everybody has shit in their life they have to be getting on with. We come on here to get away from that stuff, and have a laugh with each other. That's all we've ever done. So you can leave your hang up's at the door and chillax with the rest of us, or you can just not come back through it.
I do want to stay here (in the community that is) and I do wish to continue to play with you guys but the entire point of a forum is discussion.

Apparently you are all too relaxed and uninvolved to have one however, even though there is a vast amount of spleen-venting in many, many threads on this board. Fair enough. Discussion of opinions of games is not welcome here. Duly noted.

I will simply stay away form such things and ignore any conversation in which my thoughts on a game may be called upon. All I can say beyond that is that if this is the kind of escalation and venom that is doled out for sharing opinions of computer games, what would happen if someone brought religion or politics into the fray? I think the internet might actually melt...
Anyway, consider me relaxed and, from here on in, utterly bereft of opinion.

I would rather keep my mouth shut and enjoy owning all your asses on TF2 then ever go through this again.
