Hope someone can help with this.
When I played on the 'Steel' map last night (think it was server #2) I experienced massive lag and the 'connection problem auto disconnect in ...' message kept flashing up in the top right of the screen. I disconnected and reconnected several times but the same thing happened.
When the round ended and the map changed to 'Labor' I experienced the same thing. This was more weird as I had no lag when moving around the first red spawn point but as soon as I left that room I experienced massive lag again. Moved back into the room and it was fine, back out and it sucked.
I was checking the console on both maps and this message was repeated in red a number of times:
Performance warning: Merge with 'weapons\v_models\v_minigun_heavy.mdl'. Mark bone 'bip_upperArm_L' in model 'player/heavy.mdl' as being used by bone merge in the .qc!
I've checked google but only found old forums, mostly for other Valve games where players reported similar issues but none with a solution.
I'll post a link to this thread
http://forum.specialattack.net/viewtopi ... one#p17877 as SpA]ha11elujaz0rz had the same entry in the console, although the issue was different (failed connection, not lag) and so the cause may be also be different.
I finally got annoyed and reinstalled TF2, and I didn't experience the problem again, but that seems an excessive approach.
I did experience this quite some time ago when I first played the happy cow map, but that cleared as soon as the map changed and I've not had it again until now, so always assumed it was an issue with the map.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
