I've mentioned before that I'm seriously addicted to music so it's easier if I just share my last.fm profile:
http://www.last.fm/user/SebasM

As for genres, they vary depending on what I'm doing and the mood I'm in. Mostly rock and chillout though. :)

Favorite genres:
Metal and most of its subgenres, but I would not consider myself a fan of thrash, industrial, black and the more extreme forms of death metal.
My favorites would probably be Viking, Folk, Power and Melodic Death.

As for artists...

Viking/folk:
Bathory (Obviously, father of the Viking metal genre. R.I.P Quorthon.)
Ensiferum
Equilibrium
Falkenbach
Finntroll
Turisas
Týr
Vintersorg
Moonsorrow

Power:
Hibria
Iced Earth
Lost Horizon
Manticora

Melodic Death:
Dark Lunacy
Insomnium
Wintersun

Other genres:
Iron Maiden
Pagan's Mind
Doomsword
Running Wild

EDIT: forgot Moonsorrow

Mines gotta be metal. Heavy, Power, Death & Folk. Not a fan of black metal though.

well to be honest you can just copy and paste Doomshines list of bands pretty much. but add Machine Head, Slayer, Pantera, Amon Amarth, Helloween, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Arch Enemy, Devildriver, At the Gates and Strapping Young Lad.

I hate it when this type of question pops up during a conversation with someone, I have absolutely no clue what to answer. Not being into a specific genre automatically makes you a dull person.

I'm mostly listening to:
- Bad Religion - really good American punk rock band, I think, the best one
- Iron Maiden - British heavy metal, kinda classic
- Led Zeppelin - do this need a description ;D ?
- Sabaton - awesome power/heavy metal band from Sweden
- Rammstein - some German metal
- Armia - awesome Polish hardcore (later something a bit like heavy metal) band, really check their (the best imho) song: http://heropsychodreamer.wrzuta.pl/audio/uCFk5NH69M/
- The Offspring - one of the best punk bands that I've ever heard

And if someone wants to see, there is my last.fm: http://www.last.fm/user/mmarmott . It's not good, because I'm mostly listening from my MP3 Player or from CD Player, so Last.FM have only tracks which I heard on my Foobar or in Audiosurf.

I know Sex Pistols, even I have "Never Mind The Bollocks" :P . I said that Offspring is "one of the best", not "the best". Sex Pistols is in my opinion one of the bests too, but I'm not listening to them very much at this moment, so they are not on my list ;p . I think, that there are so many good punk bands like for example The Clash, The Vibrators, Buzzcocks, Ramones and also Siekiera (kickass Polish hardcore punk band, later cold wave, but their punk period was pretty good), but actually I'm listening to Offspring and Bad Religion.

The Necromancer (4970)
My musical taste is hard to define because it crosses boundaries. I don't look for particular genres, rather for certain qualities in songs, for example: a catchy melody, smart lyrics or a strong and well defined rhythm (not necessarily all at the same time).

What I clearly dislike is too much messing around with the melody to show your technical prowess - e.g. soul singers who can't sing one tone for a second and opt to howl right across their vocal ranges all the time or songs with elaborate guitar solos which are simply not melodious enough.

Other than that I literally listen to everything although e.g. my last.fm profile doesn't reflect that too well because I own albums of most artists that composed more than one song I like and hence listen to them on my stereo. The songs I keep on my computer I usually carry around on my MP3 player... When I work or play on the computer I don't listen to music at all since it's distracting to me (although I'm aware that some people require additional stimulants to get their mind going).

One day I might be listening to Ludwig van Beethoven (I simply LOVE the second movement of the Symphony No. 7) and Mozart's Requiem, the next day to Rammstein and The Offspring, then turn to the Beastie Boys, Eminem or Cypress Hill and lastly switch to the Chemical Brothers or some random Drum & Bass or Techno track. There's really no pattern in the genres themselves and unlike what nein! said ("Not being into a specific genre automatically makes you a dull person.") I think that LIMITING oneself to a specific genre makes you a dull person because I guarantee you that there's a song you might enjoy in every musical style, you just have to go out and find it and for some genres you might simply be less inclined to do so.

Wars about Metallica's albums rulz, why you're doing this :D .

Someone listens to rockabilly, psychobilly or any other genres like that ;D ? Last time I found how cool they are 8) . I'm asking, because I want to hear some recommendations, which bands are good in this kind of music. I only know Polish groups playing this - Stan Zvezda and Partia ( <3 ). Someone knows any good rockabilly/psychobilly bands :D ?
