Electronic Arts has opened up the beta for its card-based strategy title BattleForge, allowing all players to freely check out a preview version of the game.

BattleForge is a real-time strategy game played with cards not unlike those from Magic: the Gathering. The final game will even have an online card marketplace where players can buy and trade cards controlling units and spells.

The final game goes live on March 26, and the open beta should remain playable until that date nears.

Played it in the close beta a bit... quite sweet, but not my kind of game I think.
