Seriously, these class restriction have been pissing me off the whole day now.
I just played on goldrush as a sniper. Then, after I died, the "Choose your class" window popped up and the chat says "There are too many snipers on your team. Please choose another class."
I took a look it: None of the snipers in my team was a SpA admin. Most of them were regulars, so I guess they had a reserved slot. But does reserved slot also mean immunity towards class restrictions?
It's somewhat annoying when this happens out of the blue, especially when the new snipers is even worse. Would it be possible to change this somehow?

No, they weren't. I looked it up, they are SpA regulars but not admins. I should make this clear: I don't blame them for choosing to go sniper, but I blame the system for malfunctioning.

The limit is set to three, which is a sensible amount for goldrush, but still that's not what I'm complaining about. It's the fact, that one gets kicked out of the class without any logical reason. This also happened to me with some other classes, so it's not a sniper problem, but a general one.

Didn't know you got kicked out of classes with the class limiter that we have. Anyone knows something about this?

Never happened to me, but I have admin powahs, we should ask some people who don't, such as regulars... If it happens to more than Sawyer then we should look into it, because it isn't cool :|

Yep, very annoying and happened to me plenty of times.

I can't choose to play scout if 3 people are currently scouts. But when I'm scout, and even the highest scoring scout, I'll be forced to change to another class upon dieing. Where's the fairness in that? :(

I'll have a look to what flag the immunity binds. Perhaps anyone with reserved slot currently is without the restrictions, not sure. Will have to look in the plugins source.

Yea since i have bought my reserved slot 4 days ago i havent got changed to a other class. A fun thing hav ehappened to me when i was playing engi and got forced to change to a other class, and my snetry and disp where still there :mrgreen:

Yesterday I was blocked out many times from different classes. I think it was on #1 but maybe it was on #2 too.

I can't say for sure what server it's on, but it's been persistant since the scout update especially, so you might want to check your logs back to that date?

okay.. WHY ON EARTH does the class limit allow 5 (!!!!) medics? I had a game today where... well.. there was 5 medics healing 1 heavy.... do I need to say more?

The classlimits are there to prevent the most extreme cases, not to limit stuff exactly to how some people think it should be limited to.

On server 1 you should have no issues anymore with the classlimiter and being put out of your class. I have disabled admin imunity. I am conciddering to apply it to all servers. As ive understood and can very well imagen, its a damn pain to get switched from class each time a admin takes a class and ignores the limit on it (a non admin gets pushed out the class when they die).

A lot of us don't know the number limits, so it's not exactly our fault. Anyway, I don't think admins should have immunity to class limits... although we don't want to get into the big argument about it again :|

I am going to get so uber pissed when i cant play spy on pubs... At least give the option to buy immunity from it for spapoints.

While too many engineers is bad limiting them to 3 is also bad, and here is why:
1.During setup as red on attack defense I almost always go engineer and upgrade teleporters then switch classes and take the tele
2.When respawning if I hear the sapper sound I'll try to save the teleporters by switching to engie
3.On defense if our sentrys are taken down on the last point I'll sometimes switch to engie to help the other engineers build, then switch back to whatever I was playing
I know most people don't do this but limiting engies to 3 could a problem if more people would do this stuff.

With 3 engi's they should be doing this stuff themselves, the whole point is for each class to have positives and negatives. We want it so it isn't impossible to take down the engineer buildings when trying to get the last cap (on any map), so I don't see the problems as bad, rather the things that it would solve :wink:

One of the engineers weaknesses is that he has the dilemma of trying to save his teleports or camping his stuff, it isn't someone else job to switch to engineer if the engi's can do this themselves.

tbh, sentries aren't all that difficult. Hell usually teams with 5 engies loose, just because there are only so many good spots to set it up. And a sentry needs protection from the rest of the team to actually be worthwhile.

Engi limit should stay 5. Possibly 4, but then I would reduce every class to 4 max.

I have heard plenty of our members in mumble shout about sentry spam while the team only had 3 engineers. In their wild imagination it was 200 though.
