Ok guys heres the deal:

For a year now i have worked in the media industry. The company i work for uses sony vegas pc software to edit the majority of their footage for the various works and projects.

However i am now going to University in September and the university is very much a mac orientated uni.

The question is...

What would people rather go for

A) macbook
B) mac mini

Could you post any pros and cons you have come across with them or heard about

If you feel like it should be done , a mac vs pc debate could start, but at the end of the day i need final cut as its the mainstream editing software for television and since I`m doing television production its gonna be Mac.

I had a MacMini of the first generation and I was very satisfied.

But I dont understand your question? If you want a mobile device get the macbook, if you want a desktop computer get the macmini.

cant afford a mac book pro

Birdie , the choice doesnt just lie in portability as a mac mini in my opinion is just a portable as i can plug it into any of the macs at the university and just a screen at home. Although obviously a macbook can be used anywhere ... sigh

I think i more wanna know what other people have got and whether it was worth the money for it

Well I dont know the exact prices and your wished configuration but a Macbook should cost at least twice as much as a MacMini.

As I said I owned a Mini and my brother owns a Macbook. Both devices are well worthy their money. If the funding is no issue for you and you really want a portable thingy then I suggest the Macbook. The Mini is small and portable. But its still a desktop computer which is not designed to be often transported.

And you won't need a virtual machine for Windows on Macs. Since a few years Macs use Intel processors and Windows can be installed native and parallel to MacOs.

I dont get the difference? One is smaller and cheaper? one is bigger and cheaper? At the end of the day your after the software... so what does it matter?
