You won't have to if you got higher level items without the idler, because then it doesn't replace them unless they are a higher level, so it's not a problem for lots of people. (Such as me). I didn't get a hat anyway so meh, this doesn't effect me in anyway. Most of the unlocks suck anyway, except for the razorback which is awesomesauce (oh and the medic ones).

They will only delete items unlocked by the idler, and your being a massive hypocrite by saying 'We don't know squat yet' then just before that saying 'Have fun re-earning your basic unlocks'. ^^
Also you won't be able to re-'earn' them, you'll have to wait to randomly get them again, unless you haven't done the achievements yet.
They will get 1000s of complaints about it anyway, it's not like people replace TF2 with the idler, is it any better from valves point of view if people idle in a real server? That could be classed as 'cheating the item system', so now they will ban people for spending too long on a TF2 server where no one really plays TF2, to get around their stupid incomplete unlock system
