Has no REAL life! (4896)
I know this isn't a Special Attack technical issue, but my Steam isn't loading at all. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work like punching my PC, screaming at the monitor, throwing beer at it and curling up in a little ball and weeping like a newborn but nothing seems to be fixing it.

Anybody else having similiar problems?

Define "similar problems" - your description of your problem (unlike that of the potential solutions you tried =) is very vague.
If you indeed tried all the common fixes then I'd have to agree with Berserker - reinstall Steam, reinstall your system, buy a new computer! (Latter two optional.)

Imo you should just keep on punching it :|

But in a normal persons opinion I would have to agree on the reinstall, do you have to reinstall the games when reinstalling steam? If so I don't envy you if you don't have a back up :( Obvious suggestion but we might as well check, any firewall changes?

What's the difference between an ants nest and steam?

The ants nest has less bugs!

ba-dum tish!

I've had many problems with steam over the years, it's the only platform where a game has crashed on me, and due to that crash rendered it unplayable no matter what i've done. Had to reformat to get it to work, then a few weeks in the same game crashed with a diff problem, and wouldn't run again.

U may have to format, which sucks >=(

Could be something simple like a firewall though..

Oh c'mon - Steam really isn't that bad nowadays. It has its quirks but if you do some maintenance from time to time and keep your computer in an overall good shape you won't have problems with it.
I mean - my Steam installation survived 4 OS changes - Win2K to WinXP, back to Win2K and then up to Vista - of course I did an installation OVER the old files to fix registry references etc. but all in all my profile survived unscathed.

The newer generation of Steam users is really spoiled - you should have seen the Steam1 or even the Steam2 beta - you had to not only reinstall Steam but re-download EVERY single game like twice a week because the whole system was so messed up. =)

Try deleting clientregistry.blob.

If it won't work delete everything except steam.exe and steamapps folder (unless you want to redownload everything). It will force steam to completely redownload itself.

Redownload itself... Like an autonomous, self sufficient, self improving artificial intelligence. Except it has nothing to do with anything like that since it's just a program.

And then I stumble upon another thread and I find out the issue has been fixed already. Touché.

There's one thing you could try - download any installation tracking tool (I don't know any that spring to my mind), install Steam and then do a TOTAL uninstall of it. Then, just to be safe, install it in a slightly different location. Or wait, didn't you format your drive? That would mean it's your PC that's f00ked up, not Steam in particular. =)
