The Necromancer (4970)
There you go!
Everything is explained on the home-page but I'll paste in all the info here as well:
Quote:
It's time for another SpecialAttack.net exclusive event!

We invite everybody to take part in our Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike tournament which will be held online next weekend (9-10.05.09 - precise time and date to follow).

To take part in it you'll need:
  • Mumble
  • FinalBurn Alpha Shuffle (an Arcade emulator)
  • A completely legally obtained ROM of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (Japanese No-CD version - sfiii3n.zip and the parent US ROM sfiii3.zip) - if you have trouble with that just let us know in the tournament sign-up topic and our team of expert lawyers will sort out all issues
  • Sign-up in the official tournament sign-up topic
Detailed instructions on setting everything up have been posted in this topic: http://forum.specialattack.net/viewtopi ... =46&t=5198

The tournament will be held in a "best of five matches" format and is currently scheduled for a total of 8 players but if the response is big enough we might up this to 16 slots.
Again I stress that the emulator set-up is explained HERE.

There is a total of 8 slots for now and you can sign up below (replacements will be taken from the reserve list).

No worries guys - the tournament is just for fun!
I simply wanted to draw more attention to the possibilities online Arcade gaming opens. ^^

I played with ZxS yesterday and it was quite fun although he NEVER played SF before. His comments were pretty hilarious. He was trying out different fighters and chose Oro - I played Urien. Since Oro only has one arm (OK, USES one arm) ZxS said: "One tournament this will be - naked men fighting cripples." ;-)

OK, cool - the list is full BUT don't hesitate to still express your interest. We could do some simple eliminations before the tournament to establish who gets the slots and the relative skill levels so that the initial fights aren't too one-sided and boring (although the finale might be crap if we split the ladder into higher and lower skilled players).

I've found 2 different version of the rom (http://romkeeper.com/romsfiii3an.html) (http://romkeeper.com/romsfiii3n.html), exactly which one are we using? if it even matters that is, they're both Japanese no-cd anyway

I might as well go in for one of the extra slots, I'm not too bothered because I suck at these games, closest thing I've played to them is smash bro's and that was 5 years ago :ugly:

Ah yes, sorry - indeed my instructions aren't clear enough on that matter. I'll update them.

You need sfiii3n.zip (it's a later version with some fixes) AND the parent ROM, which is simply sfiii3.zip (US version).

You put them both in the ROM directory.

OK, we need to set up some specific times and dates, as Migu pointed out in a PM.

To me Sunday afternoon till evening would be ideal. Remember that it won't take long since we basically only have 3 rounds and a maximum of 5 fights (minimum 3) to 2 wins between us each round.

I define afternoon as somewhere around 14:00-15:00 CET (1-2 pm GMT).

Saturday sounds better for me. if it's gonna be Sunday, there's a chance I might not be able to make it till a bit after 2:00 (gmt) and only be able to stay a few hours, but it's still do able (considering how quickly I'll be knocked out of the tournament :p)

The Necromancer (4970)
Well - Saturday would be fine for me if the tournament were to start around 14:00-15:00 and would be over before 20:00. I think it's doable if everybody shows up punctually.

I believe FBAS has a record option, yes. I'll try if its any good.

EDIT: Avi Recording will crash the emulator for me everytime I try (tried DivX, Xvid, uncompressed... always the same result :/)

OK - as to recording games - forget AVI recording, it works for me but you have to have the right codecs and it will limit your framerate which would lead to game desyncs online.

The good news is that Kaillera has its own recording function and I tested it - when you host or connect to someone you will see a little "Record game" checkbox - if you tick it the gameplay will be recorded and in a very space efficient way - only the key inputs of both players will be saved which results in very small files. The kailleraclient.dll which I provided you with and which is included with FBA Shuffle has a Playback option in the P2P/Client drop-down box.

I will record all my matches for sure.

One big request - PLEASE update FinalBurn Alpha Shuffle to the latest version, especially the guys who played with me online a while ago. As McMoist and I have concluded having different emulator versions can lead to severe input lag issues. Also, the "Client" edition of kaillera won't connect between different emulator versions.
The "Client" mode might be needed if someone has huge lag (100+ ms) - e.g. McMoist and I realized that we have much less lag if we connect to an external server, even though you have to add both pings (~90ms vs 120ms).

This is a very good Kaillera server: 92.51.138.220:27888

Now a request to Blackhawk - could you seed everybody in the cup system? Blackhawk was awesome enough to add the tournament to our cup page!
